Many phone users myself included only turnbletooth on when using a Bluetooth device i.e. pairing headphones or actively tracking a tile. Turning off bluetooth (a simple one tap on an android) massively extends battery life and should always been the owners choice (as should whether aps are running) not big brother phone manufacturer.
The extra distance and volume of the Tile comes into its own when searching through a pile of bags 9r have left a bag in a remote area where fewer people about.
