My niece recently used her AirTag to good effect when travelling J for work in the USA.  She had to fly from DCA to SFO domestic and then connect to UA SFO-SYD and finally on to CBR.  Her flight from DCA was delayed a lot due to bad weather, and was then re-routed via DEN for fuel meaning she missed her international connection by a mile.  UA grudgingly arranged a hotel and meals because the next available flight was not for about 20 hrs (SFO-MEL and connect to CBR).  She asked them to retrieve her bag so she had her things for this delay but the ground agent  told her that her bag had made the international flight and was not at SFO.

Even though she isn't a very experienced flier, she told them she knew that had to be nonsense on several grounds, including that the international flight had left SFO whilst she and her luggage were still in the air between DEN and SFO, and that she was pretty sure that unaccompanied luggage would not be sent on an international leg.  Ground agent refused to budge (probably couldn't be bothered to find the bag), but niece insisted and used her AirTag to prove her point.   "The AirTag never lies!" (credit @Mattg) and the bag was duly found exactly where the AirTag said it was only a few hundred metres from where they stood arguing.

In the end Seat niece was very happy to have a free night in SFO at airline expense, and added in some sightseeing before an uneventful flight the next day.  She was also very happy to have had the AirTag to support her arguments.
