Had a few rejections in recent times and trying to get my head around it all.
I have a visa with my current bank and (mortgage provider) that I have had for prolly 7-8years now.
About 4 years ago I did a trip to NZ and got another with a major bank to take advantage of good fee structure when OS, after the trip I paid it out and closed the accounts and ended my relationship with that bank
Aroud 6 months ago I changed jobs and my current career requires a lot of travel, which I pay for and my company reimburse weekly. Shortly after starting this new job I applied for an increase in my limit to cover my new increased spending on flights etc, this was refused due to recently changing employers.
Probably about 2 months ago I applied for an Amex QF FF card. This was knocked back also and was advised to reapply in a few months incase they change the acceptance criteria.
I was also told my credit record and income is fine, just when answering the questions on the application form, my answers didn't amount to a high enough point score to get me in.
Does anyone know how they work these things out? Amex said they could not tell me anything further.
i got a copy of my credit record, and other than the mentioned applications there is no black marks or anything else, I always pay out my credit card in full before the due date (often paid up every week) and I'm well in front on my mortgage, I mostly want to get into something that will earn me points and other benefits offered by some cards and a small increase in my limit would be useful also. My current card has no rewards program or any other perks other than no annual fee.

I suspect that it is also because you have been working in your current job for only 6 months. I wonder if the response to 'reply in a few months' is a hint. Good luck

Of course! Can't believe I was silly enough to miss that!
thanks for the reply.

Dare I ask for advice, post Bankruptcy ??

Just finished my three year 'sentence' ...

But it appears, I've actually gotten 'life' ...

Asked for just $1,000. credit limit ... no takers.

What's my fate likely to be ? I've been told by some, to expect 'nothing' in the next four years ( a total of seven years from commencement of Bankruptcy )

I still spend about $50K a year on my wife's card ... but it's a debit card, and we don't get FF points.

GORDO

As I posted 3 years (and one day) ago:
Steady as she goes, in 7 years time; even Gordon's Veda file will be blank!
In four years all record of your Bankruptcy must be wiped from the public domain.

I really is a seven year thing.

However, the financial institution(s) directly affected affected can and will maintain their own private records. They cannot release these to any other entity but can use them internally.

At least you can now go overseas without having to garner permission.
