Hi,
I know that I should book QFF (QANTAS Frequent flyer) tickets a few months in advance, but I didn't. I want to fly in the first 2 weeks of July.

A friend mentioned to me that they release more tickets (as with July 07 all tickets DWN-BNE and BNE-DWN are gone) for flights in the next 2 weeks or so. Is this true?

I have also considered giving QFF a call on the phone, to see if my chatting can windle me at least a one-way ticket. Has anyone had any luck with this in the past?

Please post any comments, I'd love some help!

Oh yeah, I am travelling with 2 other people, 1 which is family but I realise non-family cannot get QFF seats anyway...

Welcome Emmu Lu, yes seats are released closer to the flying date if
there are seats that Qantas reckons they won't be able to fill. An example
is Darwin/Cairns 25 June which I've been looking at for quite a while. Seats have become available this morning were there were not any in the past.
Doubt a phone call to Qantas will help. Keep looking.

Correct to say that domestically things move around a fair bit. The reasons can be as simple as a change of aircraft size ie if 10% of cap is given to FF and the aircraft is a 734 (approx 130 ecy seats) and is subsequently upgraded to a 738 (156) an extra 3-4 seats may become avail thru that.
Its not unusual for flights that were closed to FF to become avail but its also more likely not to happen than to happen..
For youre position getting to and from Darwin within the next 2 weeks or so will on FF will be tough. The next few weeks are the peak peak season up there, what with motor racing the DRW cup and school holidays, its normally hard enough just to get a seat during this time..good luck but I would look at a plan B as well
