Are there classic reward blackout periods in 2024? (feat. will P1 make a difference?)

Hello all,

WP and trying to get a seat released for a one-way to Europe ex-SYD in mid-September. Loadings are showing F9 A7 for first over multiple days to LHR, and even the SYD-CDG route is showing J9 C9 D9 I9 on certain days. SYD-FCO has no chance (only has J fare bucket availability), but I did laugh at the "available" EK points options and their AUD$6,400+ in fees!

Plenty of "Classic reward Plus" availability for that period for SYD-LHR and SYD-CDG, but the droid (aka classic reward seat request) is not being kind with "allocation exhausted" for what appear to be very open dates I'm requesting.

Questions for the hivemind:
  • Is mid-September a known blackout period and should I just give up now?
  • Have people noticed a change in classic award seat releases since classic reward plus arrived?
  • I'm approaching P1 for the first time in ~July (and while I'm embarrassingly excited about that, this forum has set my expectations firmly on being underwhelmed)... is it worth waiting for that to kick in and try again with the VIP service team?
Thanks in advance!

I've heard 2nd hand that Korea/Japan for late-March to early-May is off limits, with no reviews available to P1.

We've all been stitched up by Classic Plus.
