Are they handing out rapid antigen tests to returning international passengers?

Can anyone confirm that a PCR test within 72 hours prior to departure for Australia is still required (for a traveller from the UK)? Queensland has announced a requirement for a RAT within 24hrs of arrival in Qld (we have a tiny supply so can manage that).
I’d be grateful for any clarity!

Are we sure that it doesn’t mean after arrival in Queensland? I suspect that’s what’s intended and it’s just been written in Queensland English. This would be inline with the other states.

What I need to do before I travel | COVID-19 and the border is very helpful and (mostly) very clear. My only reservation is that the traveller I'm trying to assist has to do it all on a smartphone and some of those pages are very wordy and definitely designed for a decent-sized screen.

thanks again

Depends on what you mean by 'en route'. If you mean since your pre-departure PCR (Federal requirement), there is plenty of time to gain an infection.

None wasn't given to us at SYD airport. We purchased a few boxes from overseas seeing all the news and stories about shortages here .

Didn’t even see any NSW Health officials at SYD last night. All the checks are being done by the airlines before departure so once you land in Australia, other than a couple of pre-recorded messages they make you listen to, the arrivals process was pretty much the same as pre covid.
