Are we there yet Mr QFF ? (subtitle am I missing something ?)

That all looks pretty good. The hardest bit of that itinerary is going to be the Honolulu bit. So there might need to be some flexibility there to head straight from the US back to Australia. Otherwise I reckon the rest of it is doable.

Best advice is to get on and have a play with the multi city tool online for the ADL-HKG//HKG-FCO flights so that when it comes time to book you know the process inside out.

Any questions just let me know.

Wow, that is encouraging news ! Thanks travelislife.
I'll definitely play around as you suggest and take up your offer to ask any questions should the need arise :). and yes the Honolulu is a nice to have but certainly not a deal breaker, (it was just to break up the return journey, because having family in Houston means we remember too well all the charm of having done the economy run of Adelaide - Dallas and back ;)). Thanks again

So if i have done this correctly using below as a test case , I have achieved this at a cost of 286,000 points for my wife and I. Given this points useage however, I am unclear as to how we are able to do the remainder of the legs of the journey and be within our 660,000 total. It seems at odds with being able to a RTW for 560,000 points or thereabouts as I recall.

Am I doing this the right way ?

Ignore the points cost. You are correct that the first legs will cost that, but each time you add flights it will reprice till it maxes out at the the 280k each. Plus you'll need another 7k each for the 2 changes (addition of the extra flights). The agents are usually very good at this one the phone. You just say you are adding segments to a OneWorld award. As long as you meet the conditions (max 35,000 miles, max 5 stopovers, min 2 airlines other than Qantas) it will price at max 280k.

Just checking you do have access to 600k points? Says there you only would have 47k left after that booking?

Ah, good point, yes my wife has a similar number of points as me, and I was going to ask if I should start moving her points over to mine...

Ah, that is great to hear, I really thought I'd misunderstood that 280k point thing. Thanks so much for taking the time to mentor me on my this

Yep, I would combine all the points in to one account. This will mean you and wife's tickets will be on the same PNR so less likely to be split up with seating and will be looked after together in the case of IRROPS.

A minor suggestion would be to make sure the booking is made from the account of the person with the highest status level.

Also the screenshot above is definitely for a classic award booking? the points plus card payment thing is confusing me. It's not points plus pay?

We both are bronze but I have Qantas Club membership for what that's worth.

The dummy booking was done using a Muti-city booking and ticking the award booking box.

For what it's worth, to me this whole RTW process on 280 K points booking process is confusing, but I am grateful that travelislife has /will be kindly guiding me through this process!

Who knows, if this all goes well, down the track, I might feel confident about purchasing those discounted AA points you read about and trying that, given my son has ensured that we will probably undertaking a lifetime of making trips to Houston to see him and his family.

I am also very grateful to travelislife and the other thread contributors as I had no idea how to go about these bookings :)
