Heading from a flier in this month's statement: that the EDR MC is going PIN only (no signatures).
Now I'm pretty sure this was first mooted around the middle of last year. At the time I was concerned because, having just returned from my second UK visit last year, both times my EDR MC PIN was not being accepted by UK POS terminals and having to rely on signature, I called the Call Centre to ask when the systems were being aligned ... I'd googled and discovered they use different systems meaning that the card should be swiped and PIN instead of chip or signature.
Interestingly, the CSR said there'd been no reports of issues using the EDR in the UK. I've not been back since, but has any more recent traveller come across the EDR Chip and PIN now working in the UK - or is it still swipe and PIN?
Are PINs now widely accepted in the US such that EDR use there will not be problem once signatures are gone? What of other countries?
Regards,
BD
