People who get arrested in Japan.yes Wise has a $350 limit on daily withdrawals but who on earth needs more than that cash per day these days? With a Bit of planning ahead will get you $700 in your pocket without too much problem.
And then there is the simple interchange between currencies you happen to have loaded.
All cards have their virtues and vices. Wise's Ability to create two virtual cards for one-off transactions when the merchant may not be reliable without leaving a permanent record puts it over the line for me.
Probably not the target customers?People who get arrested in Japan.
Though I transferred quite a bit back to Japan to pay the lawyers. Even though the amounts reached their bank accounts in a couple of days Wise apparently made a couple of mistakes and they couldn't access the funds for a couple of weeks.Probably not the target customers?
I'm a big fan of Wise and welcome to AFFSurprised that Wise was not mentioned among the list of travel cards. I've not dug into it in any detail but at first glance it seems like a better option than e.g Qantas money (admittedly pretty much everything is better than Qantas badged
Surprised that Wise was not mentioned among the list of travel cards. I've not dug into it in any detail but at first glance it seems like a better option than e.g Qantas money (admittedly pretty much everything is better than Qantas badged products)
Yep, Wise gets mentioned every other day somewhere. There is actually discussion re Wise on this thread (and elsehwere), although the original question here (before some other threads were moved by the mods) was actually about credit cards.
Wise and other Debit cards require funds to be deposited so aren't credit cards.
I guess I haven't grasped the issue terribly well, but what's the difference between a Wise Visa card and your "fee free CC or DC"?Yep, Wise gets mentioned every other day somewhere.
If I squint, I can see the benefit in some situations (transferring money or gambling on FOREX), but for everyday OS spend, I'd rather just use my fee free CC or DC.
No, it’s not a daily limit. It’s a monthly limit and then extra fees apply. It’s a significant disadvantage compared to DC. The advantage is locking in rates.yes Wise has a $350 limit on daily withdrawals but who on earth needs more than that cash per day these days? 2 withdrawals to the value of AUD$350/month free. 1.75% of transaction amount + AUD$1.50 per transaction thereafter Note: Third-party ATM service providers may charge their own fee |
I’m earning interest on my cash while I’m not spending it re DCs. Whereas Wise is earning interest on your cash while it sits there (sometimes in multiple currencies).I guess I haven't grasped the issue terribly well, but what's the difference between a Wise Visa card and your "fee free CC or DC"?
I find that my Wise virtual Visa card is pretty much the equal (and in some cases the better) of my fee free plastic credit/debit cards.
Just read the latest article from Matt on overseas credit cards and wonder why Wise (debit card) was not mentioned? I frequently see it being used all over Asia by backpackers to business men. I have used it for years and saved $$$ on the ForEx and transaction fees.Best Credit Cards for Overseas Travel & Online Shopping is an article written by AFF editorial staff:

Might want to update the BW Platinum QFF. it's "0.6 Qantas Points per $1 on the first $2,500 spent on eligible purchases per month, and 0.3 points thereafter"
