Interesting. Not a huge list of options; I was considering a stay at the treasury (Perth). Availability isn't great though prices are similar to what I'd previously seen online.

I received the email earlier. A huge range in nightly prices for 10 SC per night!

I‘m unlikely to pursue this but the MEL Hilton or DoubeTree could be places I’d book early in the New Year but would forgo HH benefits booking via QF.

Yea I got momentarily excited when I received the email as I have a soft spot for the Reef House. However, $1400 for 3 nights in a Brigadier room. Hmmm. Here are my sums…

3 nights in hotel, $1,400, 30 SCs
Red e-deal BNE-CNS return, $363, 30 SCs
J return BNE-CNS, $1,458, 120 SCs

Hotel doesn’t look like a value proposition for SC earn. The Silo in Lonny and similarly priced places look like better value, but hard to match the price/SC ratio of a cheap fare.

Cheers skip

I took to this offer with enthusiasm because we are all able to travel again and I want build status so I can effectively use my QFF points. I clicked on the link in the email promoting this offer and made bookings to stay at Ovolo Woolloomooloo for 10 nights in July. Oddly, I had to book the stay in two day lots. I used the booking engine linked from the offer email so I thought it would not give me availability if the offer was not available for any reason. The booking confirmations made no mention of the status credit offering and I became concerned that something had gone awry and the points may not be forthcoming. Qantas sent an email on 30/12/21 reminding me the offer was about to close and it also included several of the hotels to which the offer applied, including the this Ovolo. On rereading this email I saw some fine print saying the offer at this Ovolo was only good for bookings till 31 May 2022. After many hours on the phone and several written queries I still do not know whether I will get the status credits. Luckly, I made refundable bookings so I can cancel them without penalty.

Problem solved. I deep down in my soul that qantas will not live up to their end of the bargain based on other issues I have with them. I cancelled all my bookings and sworn not believe them ever again.
