Qantas did say that the Points of Sale available on its website cover the vast majority of bookings that customers make
Well yeah, if you're not letting customers make the other bookings, I expect the vast majority of folks assume it can't be done and just buy a ticket from someone else.

It does seem to marry up with the core QFi network:

But still odd they’re making it difficult to book directly the codeshare and/or mixed codeshare / QF metal options - particularly EK out of Africa and LA out of Sth Am?

You’d think a simple workaround for the currency thing would be to default to AUD or a choice of USD, EUR, GBP?

Having sussed out J & F airfares ex Europe in 2019
there were high prIce and low price return tics to be had.
had to get my head around flying one way AND working out a return date for the ex-Europe fare. Could be a long way ahead eg 9-11 months ahead. However COVID put a spinner in the works after doing the to Australia leg, and I took the refund option, pocketing a decent foreign exchange gain in the process.. 55% of the original credit card price so it covered the 3% fee id paid. What I didn’t get was the double CC POINTS because tics aren’t sold through QF Australia.
and yes’m you can book them in Australia

PS Seemed Ireland had a really good price... I wonder why ?
GB on pounds was terrible

Thanks for this article. Couldn't find this info anywhere else. I was trying to book an airfare on points out of EBB to AMS and could only see it if looked for it with an airfare going into EBB first via DOH. The first person I rang at Qantas couldn't help me and said I should ring one of the Qantas contact numbers in Africa. I tried the one in Kenya and it was a wrong number? The assistant in South Africa was really struggling and we ended up getting cut off and I got the survey??? So I tried the ringing the regular Qantas number again and success! I did't even have to ask for the assisted booking fee to be waived. The lovely person on the other end acknowledged I was unable to make the booking myself and confirmed the fee waived while we were on the phone. Got lucky in the end.
