I was looking up some any seat award flights SYD-MEL and the lowest economy seat was for 11671 QFF points and the business seat for 20851 QFF points for most flights that day. I figured it's not too bad depending on how much you value SC's etc.

I re-checked not more than 5 minutes later and the points quote had jumped up to 19440 for the economy seat!! but the business seat was still 20851 for the same flights.

Is it normal for the points quote to change so dramatically??? I was thinking maybe my internet browsing cookies or something played a part, so i deleted all recent internet history etc. but still it came up with the increased points quote

Of course this just makes me want to get the business seat for barely 1k more points

Its normal, if there are classic award seats available then you get the lowest amount, the moment someone buys a classic or any ASA the classic may go and the higher points fare is then quoted. With ASAs there are some interesting options at times, often Y not much cheaper than J on many flights.

No need to reply to the question below. I just realised that departures from Australia include taxes and surcharges in the points, but departures from overseas do not include taxes and surcharges in the points. Seems strange to me.

I was looking at booking an ASA on QF20 from MNL to SYD on Sat 31st Dec 2011.
It shows up as 33,529 points - but after you select the flight it jumps to 56,288 points on the review page.
Does anyone know why?
The same happens for other dates too such as Thurs 29th Dec 2011.
Thanks,
Ed.
