Anyone know if it is possible to transfer Miles between Asia Miles accounts?

Bottom line is, a family member has 30k points in his Altitude that he never uses and doesn't want and I know you can transfer from altitude --> Asia Miles, but then can I get them into my account?

Has anybody got any answers to this??? I too would be quite interested as I am in a similar situation.

I suggest you read the Asia Miles terms and conditions.

You can transfer to other members of you redemption group, so the short answer is "Yes", but (and this is a rather big but), there is a service fee of USD$170 for the first (and minimum) block of 10,000 and then USD$140 per subsequent 5.000.

You may consider this a little expensive.

Thanks equus, I had read that in the conditions. It is ridiculously expensive if transferring large amounts of miles i.e. 100k +.

Was just wondering if there were any roundabout ways members might know of?

Otherwise might have to get family member to transfer their Altitude points to velocity, and then do family transfer to get any use out of them.

Have you considered the use of redemption groups?

The miles do not necessarily have to be in your account for you to be able to claim an award ticket.

Sounds interesting... do you have any more info??

Essentially, you are allowed to add some names to your 'redemption group', which is a list of people that AM will allow you to redeem your own miles for. So if your family member has miles that he doesn't need, he can add you to his redemption group and then book an award for you.

From AM FAQs:

2. Can I claim an award for someone else?
Yes, you can redeem an award for any of your Redemption Group members using your Asia Miles. If you want to nominate any new friends or relatives, you can update your Redemption Group at any time.
