Hi All,

Can anyone please help advise how much taxes and surcharges it will be for a one way Asiamiles award flight be from:
1) PER to HKG

I can't check taxes and fees due to insufficient points, but will transfer points from my c/c if they are not too dear. If its not too dear I might even transfer all and book a return if reduces the fees and taxes?

Thank you

Which credit card do you use that you get Asia miles points?

Mine all go to QFF but I'm looking to change ASAP!

I have an Amex Platinum Reserve Credit Card, and it is 1:1 which is great.

Citi Select I think recently added Asia Miles to their conversion? But it is 2:1 so it is not an option :(

But I've heard that taxes and surcharges are a lot more, so I have held back from transferring...

Select does $1:1FF point compared to $1:1.33FF points for SQ & VA. Haven't quantified it but find use around 20% less points flying SQ or VA compared with CX or QF which of course is never available and then rarely direct or with reasonable connections.
Used CX a few years ago to get one of my daughters back from NY and needed to use more points than if SQ was available. Found the fees similar to SQ and QF.

I Flew CX J MEL-HKG-NKG Mon Mar 11 - 70K Asia Miles + taxes were HKD1,754 ~AD249

FWIW same day SQ-J MEL-SIN-PVG - 61K KFpts + ~AD446 - does that help?

Thanks Cruiser! Taxes seem reasonably same as SQ. Planning on just flying Y on the PER-HKG route as it is direct (time pressure), even though I could have flown fly J for about the same points :(

But looking forward in taking my first plunge into CX :)

No probs, PER to HKG

CX is 25,000 points in Y (direct)
SQ is 27,000~ points in J (stopover in SG)
