Where's everyone spending the day of celebration? Has being a mid week bank holiday screwed up travel / work plans?

I'm in Mt Isa so will be enjoying a cold one at the bluff club I would imagine.

If there are any AFF members at the mount, PM if into a coldie sometime late arvo

I'm planning to work for a while on Oz Day. I have a couple of IT changes that need to be done when things are quiet, and sure enough it's a good day to do them (plus I get paid decent rates to turn up that day!).

To me, the whole day has been hijacked by idiots, morons and bogans who wear something that contains the flag and think they're special. The irony of "Australians" bashing each other because they don't like their heritage is particularly mind boggling.

But I hope everyone enjoys their day, no matter what they get up to.

Unfortunately I will be stuck in Brisbane.

I wish I could work that day instead and take the time off later.

I'll be heading up to Brisbane for the day to volunteer in some capacity to help with the clean up effort post flood.

A quiet day in Tassie. The first time they have not put me on call on a public holiday.

I'll be in Taiwan, wonder if they'll celebrate?

The Taipei times usually has a page on the back of the first section dedicated to whatever country is having a national day. For a non colonial country they also cover the cricket very well.

I'll be working at the Tennis as usual. Hopefully get to see some of the fireworks over the city from the roof of HiSense arena again!

I'll have a veerrryyy long Oz day - but not in Oz!

MEL Time:
05:00am: Wake up in AKL at 7am [local]
07:00am: Catch 9pm flight to WLG
10:00am: Lunch Wellington NZ
02:00pm: 4pm fly to AKL
05:15pm: 715pm fly to LAX
05:30am+1: Arrive LAX 10:30am
09:30am+1: Fly to LAS 2:30pm.
11:30am+1: Fly to LAX
04:00pm+1: Red-eye to BOS 9:00pm

Quiet one at home with family. The holiday gives me a chance to take an ADO and have an extra long weekend.

Working for me. Might as well make some cash (that's the Australian way, isn't it?).

Although i'm working in a Pub, so that's aussie enough (a job where i'm actively encouraged to have a few drinks on the job, what's not to like?).

I completely forgot the date and scheduled a conference call for tomorrow morning... Too late to change anything now.:(

Participating in the RACV Australia Day Rally :D

Nothing really for me, but have been invited my some neighbours that aren’t my neighbours anymore to participate in a family/street BBQ where they live now, so that could be interesting. Sze Sze and a friend will be joining me briefly, before going home to watch movies…

I'm off with my little ogres to Eumundi Markets, barbie in the arvo followed by a refreshing dip at Sunshine Beach. Enjoy ;)

Hoping to have a quietish day. Maybe go home & clean some silt off plants by hand, so that the flood won't stop their photosynthesis. :o
And go to my Mum's and figure out what of my clothes are at her house that I want before we find a new house. And maybe figure out our finances and make an offer on a house up on a hill. ;)

Deep Sea fishing of Moreton Island for me in 6 hours, I really should be in bed, hope its a quite day Thursday at work ;).

IM laying on my Mt ISA motel bed thinking of our huge drive tomorrow through the desert... Maybe me convincing my mate driving vs the 6 seated shuttle was not such a good idea...
