Hi everyone-

I'm intending to enjoy a longish holiday in Europe next year together with my partner and am a bit spoilt by my frequent business travel so don't want to endure cattle class on this long route. Hence, we want to book a good business deal, timing is end of May to end of June which hopefully is just before the start of the mad Northern Summer hol season.
Can anyone here point me into the right direction as to where to find such one and when the best time to book would be?
Through my work I could get 8k fare which is Qantas J and can combine several European destinations (we'd like to fly into Barcelona or Madrid and out of Berlin ideally)- this pretty much my base any other offer will be measured against. By next year, I'll be QF Platinum and it would be nice to use points for upgrades to first on parts of the trip. Hence, fares on other airlines need to be significantly cheaper to make any sense, particularly if it's not even One World. Same goes for airlines that might not allow a great deal of destinations, I am thinking Emirates or Virgin/Ethihad, guess you'd have to make your own way from Berlin which sucks.
Any suggestions? What's the best timing to make a booking- towards the end of the year? We used to fly eco for private trips and always booked around end of November when most airlines have pretty good early bird specials out- not sure if similar things even exist for J class?
Thanks a lot already! :p

8000 on QF is not a bad deal (ex-oz that is) Could have a look at AY but that is only about 600 cheaper to stick with oneworld.

Thanks for that- this is what I thought pretty much. Might just go for that fare then, no hassles, chance for an upgrade and full points and status creds.

Cheers!

Don't know how often you go back to Germany but I buy a return trip BRU-SYD-BRU companion fare on QF for about AUD7500 for the two of us... Maybe something to look at if you go back at least once a year.

-edit-
non companion fares TXL-SYD-TXL is about AUD4700
-end edit-

Great tip, thanks for that- will look into it. Try to make it at least once a year though have been lucky lately and usually get at least one work trip to Europe per year where I can add a few days with my family :)
