A new style of Australian passport has been released, incorporating iconic images with the latest security technology.

I wish they would stop making them so flimsy. Goto love the German ones with the nice laminated information page and solid covers.
My current generation one feels so 'paperish' and i always feel it is easy to damage even just using it as you would normally.

A mate of mine had a bouncer in the US accidentally snap the chip in his when bending it, at the door of a nightclub.

A friend of mine got one of these a couple weeks back. They're quite pretty The page designs are a big improvement on the now-previous style, and it's bound in a black cover rather than the dark blue cover.

Comparing the photos... it looks much better.

My passport doesn't expire for a while though, so I wont be using any e-queues for a while.

A mate of mine had a bouncer in the US accidentally snap the chip in his when bending it, at the door of a nightclub.

Whoops.

I just picked up mine and now understand what you are talking about re: the chip. I suspect a few people will be snapping theirs by placing it in the back pocket and sitting on it.

On another note, my new passport was to replace my emergency passport issued in BKK due to mine being removed from my carry on in the overhead locker on a 1 hour domestic flight in Thailand. Beware!:evil:

I hope that the cover is green with the coat of arms stamped in gold. Ours are up for renewal before Novermber this year. looking forward to the new look.

I just hope it withstands the bending back of the cover page when immigration staff place it on the scanner/reader thingy.
Last week in UK Immigration officer asked me if my 8 year old passport had been through the washing machine(no say I). This was while he was bending back the cover page and breaking the binding even more.
It's about 80% full so I had thought it might last another year or so but I would hate to be stuck somewhere with what was thought to be a dodgy passport.

The page with the chip is in the middle of the passport and is extremely stiff but still breakable.

The new passport looks good.

My current ever reliable passport does not expire until August 2010 and it still has a couple of empty pages. Hopefully it will get me through to the end of the year....

Just got mine!! Valid till 2019 !!! DOH!! and with a few visas in it lasting 5 years I don't think I will be in a rush to get the new one

I'm still on a L series passport which has only a page and a half left. The UK immigration have been good to me and just found small gaps on previously used pages to stamp. The Italians are even better by stamping over other old EU stamps.
The binding is just about shot and I have been using a leather passport cover in the last couple of years which has probably helped.
