Hi All,

Mrs Xsprint has partner gold status which is due to expire 31Aug07.

Now since I have achieved enough SCs for Partner Gold as of 19Jul07 and intend for her to once again receive it, in the interests of time can QF just 'roll it over' for another year rather than me filling out the form again? (incidently I haven't received a form yet).

Given that she is flying on 6 Sept, whats the likelihood the new gold card will be received before then? Might have to use the courier option.

All opinions gratefully received.

Xsprint,

Form? What form? Mrs Ikara has been Partner Gold for the last 6 years. In each year, as soon as I've achieved the requisite 2100 SC's her Partner Gold Membership has been automatically renewed. Her annivesary date is the same each year. I don't ever recall filling out any forms - unless I filled out a form all those years ago nominating her as my Partner? I definitely haven't filled out any forms since then.

I requalified for WP in June, PG some weeks ago.

My status is still showing online as expiring Oct '07.

However, I did receive a letter from QFF after attaining PG status. It was along the lines of congrats etc, we will activate the complimentary Gold membership if your partner does not earn enough Status credit to retain SG status at the end of their current membership year.

This is all a bit weird, her PQP membership used to expire end of July, her PG status is in line with mine - end of Oct.

I re-achieved partner gold nearly 6 months prior to my wifes aniversary date, yet QF left it til after the old card expired to send out the new one. She doesn't travel much so didn't effect her, but it could have if she had been travelling in that period.

I really dont think PG is that great a benefit really. This is total speculation but I wouldnt imagine that there are that many WPs with lots of travel whose spouse would benefit from being gold. How many people travel that often by themselves unless travelling on business?

mrssimongr wouldn't benefit that greatly as she only ever travels with me (I know I am sending her to DRW by herself but she is in J for that trip ;))

It sounds like a great benefit but if compared to eVIPs it is a bit of a nothing for me...

Mrs NM only benefited on one trip with 3 Qantas Club visits. She was on a domestic business class award so had priority baggage and check-in anyway, and was me for BNE check-in so had lounge access here as well.

Oh and when she dropped back to Silver she received a lounge invitation, which I gave to a fried yesterday to use on a trip to Europe next week.

So not really a great deal of benefit for Mrs NM.

The 50% bonus works ok for mrs serfty's annual 4-6 Oz/Asia flights; plus I have not needed to renew her Partner QP membership the last two years.

Also, the travelling with other non-status people, we still get minimum sapphire lounge access for 4.

Mrs Optics never received any benefit while she was PG in 2005, but now it would be useful (I failed to qualify by about 100SC both last year and this year). The benefit is when travelling international with the family in Y, as it would allow both of us to take a guest into the QP. Now I have to rely on the goodwill of the lounge dragons in MEL and LAX to get wife and 2 daughters into the lounge (hopefully the Flounge even in MEL).

I hadnt thought about the lounge access for mini people (mind you I am hoping to stay out of whY for a while yet ;)) - no kids for a little while yet and by then I might have switched back to QF if Ihave hit 2mm ;)

This appears to be spot on QF policy. I spoke to QFF Service ctr and they remarked that Mrs Xsprint's 'PG' card was due to be sent out on 3 sept (hers/mine anniv date is 31Aug).

Apparently they wait until the status renewal date to determine if the member will achieve QP status in their own right before applying PG status.

Anyway since the Mrs is travelling Intl Y on 6Sept I had little option but to fork out for a courier - lets call it a 'lounge surcharge' :-|

thanks All for the feedback

The seemed like a good place to post this as my q is along these lines.

Does anyone know what happens to a "Partner Gold" when the WP fails to requalify? Do they fall from grace all they way back to NB or a tiny step back to PS?

According to the garb QF sent Mrs Jasonja3, if PG is not requalified, the the partner goes to PS, then NB, same as the normal membership.

Well that is good news for my partner. She is upset I didn't requalify her.

There should be no complaints next time you have to go away then.

Your Mrs must be very different to mine.

Certainly was the case for Mrs NM. Went from Bronze to Gold (courtesy of my PG status), then back to Silver (included comp Qantas Club invitation as with any Silver qualification), then back to Bronze.

A Gold member who attained their status via a Partner's PG status is treated exactly the same as any member who attains Gold status by any process.

Anyone ever had their partner renewal comped to PG - I'm about 100 SC short this year and just curious given I have been weel over the mark in previous years..

Like most people she doesnt get a lot of value out of it but does occasionally travel solo when it is useful.

I have never heard of it being done.
