[bHi Hi, First time on site, looking for help. I am sure that Qantas had a section on their website that showed the forward availability of FF flights however I have looked everywhere but cant see it. Have they taken it off or am I simply not looking in th right spot. Thanks[/b]

There is a spot on the QANTAS website that provides general advice as to what Frequent Flyer availability is at a particular point in time.

Award Flight Opportunities

Something gives me the impression that you're asking for more specific information, and short of accessing the Award Flight Booking section on the website, I don't believe there has been that sort of information there.

Thanks Swissbignose, Award flight Opportunities was what I was after but could not find it. most appreciated.

I find it much easier to log onto a website that lists all the school holidays by state, have my diary open at a calender, and then call the FF service centre. Firstly, the QF site only lists QF flights operated by QF, which excludes viable alternatives. Secondly, the people I've spoken to at the service centre have generally been quite helpful, and have made suggestions that I wouldn't have considered. Overall, the past 18 months have been great for redemption tickets and upgrades for me.

I've also found the FF service centre very helpful on a recent trip to Paris they had 2 upgrades available and worked with me to use a combination of points and about to exprire upgrade credits to minimise the cost to me.

Thanks guys, i'm like a sponge and I am happy to soak up the benefit of other people's experience and knowledge

lack of award flights oz to us

I have been trying for 6 weeks to find a business or first syd-lax-syd.

I have managed on the odd occasion to get one out but then not one back and visa versa. and I am flexible by 5 weeks!

I have also noticed the lack of economy. where as before the ACCC court case there were heaps of economy and quite a few J and F now there is absolutely nothing. I check 3 -4 times a day by the day from mid sept to late oct.
nothing.

I thought qantas had a year long blackout on fist and business class on most flights to USA out of Sydney. It may be worthwhile talking toFF centre and try for a flight out of Brisbane with a domestic connection to Sydney.

Mindless conspiracy nonsense.

Just call up and get them to ask inventory to release some F/J/D seats for you to use as award seats - it's usually possible for those with status, and takes only a couple of days to come through.

The last time I used points was via the QF club phone number. I find the web information is never correct. Also you can book on other OW carriers, but given the BA sale I wonder what will happen now?
