Availability of Seats

I recall reading in the past that there was a website that indicated how many seats were still available on a flight, and in what fare classes. Is this correct??

If so, what fare codes relate to Frequent Flyer seats in First, Business & Economy. I think First is Z??

PaulZ, there are a couple but the best that I have seen is ExpertFlyer.com - it's one you have to pay for, but if you are flying regularly, it is worth it's weight in gold. I don't have it - but I have a friend who does and helps me with my problems.

In the last 2 weeks, he has found flights that had Award seat availability in First on AA LAX/DFW/MIA (A class seats in AA-speak) for me and my wife in Dec 05; then U availability for a BNE/PER and ADL/BNE flights I'm taking early next year after returning from USA. I was able to book and ticket both itineraries , then upgrade all the flights above. Always better knowing when you're talking with CSA's

The subclass listed are correct for QF and oneworld. While the major alliances have "alligned" their subclass usage, FF redemption class still varies between the alliances and certainly, non-alliance members will differ - each airline as the ability to structure the subclasses as they wish.

If you need information on a specific airline, you would have to check with that ailirne or post the question.

There are few options available on the net that are both free and show QF award availability buckets. One option is the Cathay Pacific ITN site, but on routes where there is a CX option, that is all that will be returned. It shows Z and U buckets, but not X.

I use the KVS Availability Tool. The full version is available if you make a contribution to the developer of the tool. It's not as full featured as Expertflyer, but once you make a contribution there is no ongoing cost. It has improved over the last year of so with continued upgrades and enhanced functionality.
