I cancelled a J class award booking where I'd used points and cash. The cash has now been refunded to my credit card less the original credit card booking fee. The points have not been refunded as yet.

I have 2 questions:
1. Is it normal that Virgin do not refund the $9 original booking fee for using a credit card even though you have no choice but to use one?
2. How long is the normal delay after getting the cash refunded to then seeing the points appear back in your account?

Read our AFF credit card guides and start earning more points now.

OK TTBOMK refund of pts should only take a few days - but I would not wait I would call them imm.

I may have been lucky in that it was DJ that cancelled my flight, so I got all the $$ back. The points took about three weeks to return to my account though.

You dont get the CC fee back because a lot of the CC companies dont refund it.

True, but I'd be surprised if the actual cost to DJ of taking a credit card payment is anywhere near the $4.50 fee they charge pax.

Would not take long to hit $4.50 at the superpremium rate of 1.65% for instance.

That would require a cash component of at least $273 - with domestic points &pay I have not seen any payments that high.

Not hard during school hols or footy finals, if you wanted to grab DJ366 Saturday morning TSV-BNE you only have these options which are still cheaper than case alternatives

True, but most here would generally book a flex ticket and use less points to upgrade.

Most here would probably try the booking on a Mac using Poli first :)
