Hi guru's, I am travelling to Las Vagas for work in October (woot!) and was wanting to take my partner with me on an award booking. I know it is unlikely we will be able to get the same flights together, but at the moment, I can only get a flight there, not one back. Could anyone please suggest a different routing to get back to Sydney so it can be on points for 98000, rather than the 140,000 points it will /16th ish (my partner will need to be back at work for Monday 18th.

Thanks, Sue :)

Bear in mind that a departure on the 16th will see your partner arrive back in Sydney on the morning of the 18th.

If your partner will be up to going into the office after flying LAS-LAX-SYD then great. I know I wouldn't be too keen on it if flying economy :)

You didn't specify a booking class, but I can see award availability leaving Los Angeles on Thursday October 14 (gets back into Sydney on Saturday morning) for 48,000 points. You could then book a flight on American Airlines from LAS-LAX at around AU$140 including taxes. There's an evening flight from Las Vegas that arrives in Los Angeles at around 8pm which is perfect for the evening flights back to Australia such as QF12 (Sydney; leaves 10:30pm).

If you do that, your partner should be able to check the baggage right through to Sydney from Las Vegas and use the Qantas shuttle bus to go between T4 and TBIT terminals at LAX (saves going through TBIT security).

Thank you! :) Not sure he would cope with arriving on the morning of the 18th, so it would have to be the 15th - would prefer the 15th to the 14th, as I am working from 9-13th, so if we left on the 14th, we wouldn't get to spend any time together in vegas, so prob not so much fun for him....

Oh and all travel for me is in economy, my little business can't afford the luxury of comfortable flight just yet :)
