I booked an award flight for May this year and no points have been deducted from my account as yet. It shows under my bookings but nothing else has changed. Is this seat actually confirmed or will I only find out within 24hrs of my departure like a business class upgrade? If it is confirmed how long does it take for the eticket to come through or the points to come out?

I tried searching for this in the forum but couldn't find my answer. Sorry if its a double post.

Cheers

IME, (about 3 months ago and 30 minutes ago) the points are deducted immediately from the FF account but the taxes may take forever to be charged. I had this problems where the points were deducted but the taxes weren't charged for about six months. http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/community/qantas-frequent-flyer/when-do-qf-charge-10961.html

In any case, a call to the QFF Service Centre wouldn't go astray just to confirm the booking and prompt them to ticket it. The number is 13 13 13 or 13 11 31. Good luck!

OK thats was unusual, just after I got my first reply the email arrived and points were deducted. I guess i owe a huge thanks to the Qantas rep reading this forum :D . Hi! and thank you to those who replied

In my experience it can vary depending on the booking.

When I booked my Oneworld RTW award last April the FF points were deducted from my account 10 days after making the booking and the taxes and surcharges took around 6 weeks to be processed.

For much simpler award bookings within a couple of hours I have received the e-ticket itinerary and the FF points have been deducted from my account.
