I read on the Cathay (Asia Miles) thread that from next year, Cathay will be flying direct HKG to Tel Aviv - that sounds so good.

I can see on the aa.com website that I can book award flights fairly easily from Hong Kong to Tel Aviv flying Royal Jordanian in Business, for 40,000 AA Miles (certainly not direct)

If I wanted to fly Melbourne (MEL) to HKG and then onwards to Tel Aviv - will I have to book those two sectors separately at 40,000 AA miles each sector, or if I call the AA Call Centre will they book me straight through, and how many AA Miles will I need if that's a possibility.

Hopefully someone will be able to answer this.

thank you in advance.

simply because there was a lot of chopping and changing flights- i'm looking for less - I will keep checking RJ though

For Cathay to fly you direct to TA you will need two award bookings as they don't permit through travel ( ie you can't transit ) only allow this with a stop over...my brother has just booked with QF CX MEL-HKG and then CX HKG-TLV....And Return...think the points were about 280K
