Hey all. I almost have enough points for a one-way flight in business. I'm thinking of trying business class for the first time. Is it possible to book an award seat in business one-leg and economy the other with points+pay? I can't seem to do it on the Velocity web site. If I booked two one-way flights, it's massively more expensive.

depending on where you want to go, may I suggest you purchase a flexi fare and use points to upgrade (it's half priced upgrades at the moment) so your points might go a little further.

I'd second this. You'll be able to go business in both directions then!

Check award seat availability to avoid disappointment though!

Yes, extremely important this to avoid buying flexi tickets at 2-3x the price and then finding no upgrade class availability. I usually ring first, check availability, then _immediately_ book the flexi, ring back and upgrade all within a few minutes.

I can't upgrade on long haul international right? It's only for gold and platinum members? And I would ideally like a confirmed business seat. Upgrades aren't confirmed until near the flight? Thanks for all your help.

DJ upgrades are confirmed right away. But ... without status I think you are right, no upgrades for long haul. In fact, snooping around the veloctiy site right now I don't even think status allow long haul upgrades (though I am sure I read it somewhere that this had changed / was going to change).

Given your original problem then, I'd be tempted to see if a travel agent could help, or perhaps just give Virgin a call and ask them if its possible and what it might cost without committing yourself.
