We are flying with our 18mth old HKG-LHR this August on a BA 744 in F - does anyone out there know if BA has a similar basinet arrangement as QF do on their 744? (i.e. baby in the windowsil in row 5 - I think)

QF has bassinets at seats 4A and 4K. I do not believe BA has bassinets in their F cabin.

All I could find online was they they use a different sort of infant seat, that looks a lot more comfortable, but I’m not sure where it’d go.

I would be surprised if an 18 month old can sleep in an airline bassinet unless they are quite small. At 9 months my boy was too big for the bassinet.

BA has a Britax infant car seat which has a larger size/ weight limit than the traditional bassinet, I have had a 14 month old in one. It is also much better for older babies as they can sit, play and eat in it. Sadly ( or fortunately ;) ) I've never travelled in BA F with an infant so not sure where it would go. From my distant memory of the BA F cabin I think only 1A and K would be suitable

Qantas has a weight limit of 11kg for bassinets. They say they can used up to 18 months but recommend a maximum age of 8 months for bassinet use.

There is a reason why we call toddlergr "Hagrid" ;)

I flew JFK-LHR with BA in their newly refurbished 747 F cabin last year with my then 7 month old daughter.

As mentioned by Princess Fiona the basinet used by BA is actually more like a cross between a car seat and a rocker. In the new 747 configuration it comes with a mounting plate and it clips into any of the seats in the F cabin, sitting where the TV screen folds out (so you can't use the basinet and watch TV at the same time). For that flight I was sitting in 5F and my wife was in 5K - the cabin crew asked us which seat we would prefer to have the basinet fixed to.

I'm not sure where BA are up to with their updated F cabin rollout and as this was the only flight we took with BA I don't know what the situation is with the older generation cabin layout.
