Which one world Airlines show up on my Qantas app my Trips?
My BA Cityflyer flights are in my QF Trips on the iOS app. I added my QFF#. But my cash upgrade from Euro traveller to Club Euro is listed as "U" class, which isn't recognised as a QF points-earning business class. Does that mean I won't earn any status credits from these flights at all?

I have earned J points and SCs in the past doing the cash upgrade online (prior to checkin).

I vaguely recall upgrades at checkin are done differently - but i could be wrong.

thanks -- I did the upgrade online (I guess this is a newbie thing to remark on, but I couldn't get over the fact that with the upgrade offer , it was cheaper to fly business than BA's "flexible economy" so i got a refund!) but can't find the original travel class so, I'm hoping i get the original booking points,

In the past such upgrades I have done have changed to U, but indeed posted as Business once travel was complete.

That’s actually the catch with these cash upgrades. The new fare becomes totally inflexible. No changes, no cancellation. But if your travel is fixed, they can be great value and good SC earners.

I thought some folks might be interested in an update on my BA-QFF question.

My Activity Statement recorded that travel as “reward flights”, earning me zero points/credits. When I asked BA ground crew at LCY about this, they assured me Qantas has access to the same booking system so they can see we initially paid for “Economy Plus Flex” tickets and after that, paid cash for upgrades to Business.

Forking out for the upgrade turned out to be totally worth it! Despite no lounge access at LCY, the whole experience was stress-free & very comfortable. The simple, nicely-plated, fresh & tasty meals & fast-tracked check-in/security definitely aided in a swifter recovery from the gruelling 14-hour Economy flight from SIN to LHR we’d just come off and in our being in better mental & physical states upon landing in either city (Berlin and then London again) to enjoy and experience our destinations.

But I digress[ed]. On returning to MEL, I called Qantas FF and I explained my situation and said, “please check my BA booking”, which the staffer did. She then said she could probably resolve this matter right away following a quick consultation with her superior. She came back confirming that she could do this. And read out that the BA original fare class on my ticket was L, which is DISCOUNTED ECONOMY. I was surprised to hear this, given the name of our fare is “Economy Plus Flex”, and is the 3rd Euro Traveller Economy fare class. I looked into this more & it’s true that the published revenue class for Euro Traveller fares (for our route anyway) appears to only be “L”.

One reputable points site states BA has approximately 22 travel classes! Having spent way too much time and energy on this issue already, I settled for QF discount economy points and credits, which were instantly entered onto my account. Next time, I now know to double-check the revenue class of an airline fare against the QF tables. It’s often stated that there’s nothing intuitive about aviation Travel or Fare taxonomies, and I have now experienced this for myself.

Thanks to the help from members of this awesome community, btw, as this site is an internet version of The Last Homely House for weary travellers!

For me, the takeaway from the above is that QF's automated systems can no longer tell you were originally booked on a paid Y fare if you upgrade to J. So you'll probably need to follow up with the QFF service centre to get the points & status credits you're entitled to.

@Adobongga the earn rate is based purely on how the fare class you've booked matched to the QFF partner earn table here: https://www.qantas.com/au/en/freque...t-flyer-earn-categories:en:nn#british-airways

Thanks, @Mattg — I hadn’t cross-referenced the BA fare info with Qantas. I wish I had. Here’s another Qantas URL I found helpful (after the fact, though, but I felt it was a better place to start IMO for anynewbies like myself who read the AFF threads & who are aiming to improve FF “bang for bucks”: https://www.qantas.com/agencyconnec...ides/clue-cards/international-clue-cards.html

The link @Mattg posted is the ground truth for how QF will credit BA flights. Useful to have that at hand when booking flights - although the fare class isn’t always shown…

Meanwhile, the lack of J SCs on prepaying for an upgrade is still a disappointing enhancement and possibly unintentional?

At times a google search can pick up a dead out of date link. Not all web technicians delete old superseded pages.
