A radio DJ's daughter has spoken of her terror after a passenger attacked crew members on a British Airways flight, screaming "I have a bomb and you're all going to die".

Steve Penk's daughter Natalie, 27, said she feared for her life after a man began running up and down the aisles, shouting and spitting at staff, during a flight from Heathrow to Dubai.

After 45 minutes, the man was finally restrained and handcuffed, as he yelled: "I have a bomb and you're all going to die".

A truly horrific incident and one that would scare all of us.

I am surprised that they didn't return to London once the incident occurred. Still, Dubai is not the place to be if you've made threats like these.

Mental issues made worse by alcohol?

It is a terrifying experience but similar incidents happen quite regularly. More and more people are depressed and we have no idea what these people are capable of doing. Murder suicide in Port Lincoln a few days is just one example.

While you certainly wouldn't be thinking rationally at the time... if someone had a bomb, they'd use it. Anyone screaming they have one clearly doesn't. Of course, at the time you wouldn't rationalise any of that.

45 minutes to restrain him?! I would've got up and smashed him after about 7.36 minutes.

Our threat reports recently referred to a 'noise making IED'. I wondered if Mrs Pineapple had arrived in town. :)

Report suggests the flight was ~1hr from DXB (so you'd just land there as I'd imagine they'd land at nearest suitable airfield).

This has to be a mental issue. No one is that stupid to announce such a threat and not go through with it in earnest. If it's mental illness, they'll likely let him off after a stern warning, or send him to a shrink. Then again, he is in Dubai so any number of scenarios could eventuate.

If the threat was purely to maliciously terrorise and not to actually blow up a bomb, then we'll make sure he's hit with the book, viz. literally, very hard and liberally.
