BA Upgrade BKK-LHR

Hi

this is my first post here, so please be gentle.

Just booked the wife FF flights MEL-LHR, via the phone (Qantas FF scheme) and it includes a BA leg - BKK-LHR. Question - how to request upgrade to Premium Economy - points or cash. Im thinking to have her do this for cash at the counter at BKK. Sensible? Doable?

The other legs are either Premium Economy (QA) or Star Class on Jetstar (QA dont fly MEL-BKK direct) - all on points.

unfortunately, FF award tickets are not upgradeable.

However, BA do offer an on-board upgrade pending availability after all have boarded. This is arranged through the CSM (Cabin Services Manager) and paid with a credit card which is then processed through the in-flight duty-free system. I expect this can be done with an award ticket just the same as any other ticket. You cannot request this until on-board the aircraft. You cannot waitlist for it.

I believe BA have ceased these cash upgrades pending a review.

If this is the case other option is to try to upgrade your actual booking before you fly.
