Baggage allowance on CX as a OWS or OWE

I have found CX to be very accommodating to me (as a WP) and didn't worry about a few extra kilos when I was travelling earlier this year. YMMV but they do understand WP and look after us.

Does anyone here have any indicative information whether CX grants the extra baggage allowances to other OW status members, or is it just Marco Polo club?

Check In Baggage, Checked Luggage, Baggage Allowance - Cathay Pacific US

Flown with them many times, and never had extra allowance granted as OW member, including WP (x3). They grant to Marco Polo club only - I just signed up for their Green Tier, to allow me an extra 10kg for 12mths.

A great pity the alliances don't align extra baggage rights to their Frequent Flyers; would make things a little more streamlined and make you feel that being loyal to your chosen alliance was appreciated.

Hvr,

That was my experience as a WP too while flying J. Now I am a SG and will be in J so was unsure.

I know QF don't recognise OWS or OWE with respect to additional baggage allowances so pax only receive the ticketed allowances. The 'Priority' or 'Business' symbol is not given either unless the pax is travelling in J.

Airlines can't really go on about how being a member of an alliance is 'seamless' if pax are not going to receiving the same luggage entitlements.

What are Star Alliance airlines like with respect to recognising fellow member airlines' FQTV allowances?

Flown with them many times in J & whY over a number of years They have always provided myself & others in my party (family) with additional luggage allowance.

Also, they have granted me (WP) access to the F lounge with 3 guests on multiply occasions.......try & get QF, AA or BA to do that.

Extra baggage is a standard/published benefit of status in the *A. I am mystified why the other 2 alliances do not match that.

The occasional check-in agent needs a little prompting, but I have never been refused it....

US has its baggage rules written in a fairly confusing manner (not on their lonesome there of course!!) BUT their kiosks are correctly programmed... whenever I use one of those it always has a little "Bag fees waived due to elite status" message..

Y - such is life. . . . . :D

Never had problems with lounge access or anything else - I really like flying CX. Just when we've asked about the WP/OW status allowing for extra kg, every time we were met with a "Sorry, no. Only for our MP members." Maybe my colleague didn't ask so nicely. . . . . .

I've travelled on CX as a mere QF NB in Economy and found them excellent - on multiple times I had 25kg or so (when the limit is 23kg) and they just checked it in with no questions asked. Very good service I thought.

Yes, with a few extra kg they are fantastic - it's more when we tried to get the additional OWE/OWS allowance that we were declined. An extra 2 or 3 kg wasn't a problem, it was when we needed the extra 15kg that we got knocked back.

I"ll happily take F Lounge access in OW instead of extra bags YMMV ;)

Understood..... but my "home FF" airline doesn't even HAVE First.. so it is the least of my concerns...;)

I have made good use of the 3 bag allowance - mainly when travelling with friends of.. the fair sex... (Those ladies can SHOP!!)

I know that one - she gets 6 pieces & you get none! ;)

ozbeachbabe - You have been reading my diary.... (actually it was TWO ladies!)

We shall wait and see. I'm flying 25Dec on CX. I'll come hope sitting at 1,360SC. I see a status run in my future :-)
