Hi Folks,
We are travelling soon to coughet. Have booked flight to Singapore with Qantas (Emirates) then next leg with Jetstar Asia (separate bookings)
What I want to know is do we have to clear customs/immigration and Check In again for Jetstar flight or will / can our luggage be checked all the way thru to coughet?
As we have approx 7 hours in Singapore on way over we were hoping to get a room at the Aerotel before continuing on.
Thanks in Advance :):)

Ask at check-in if they can through check your bags. If they can, great.

If they can't, you have two options.

Option (a) disembark from Emirates and head to the jetstar transfer desk (do not clear immigration). Tell them you are connecting to coughet and ask them if they can go collect your bags and re-tag them for you. They will also give you a boarding pass if you don't already have one. Go to the hotel, then head straight to the gate. At the gate just ask the agent if they have your bags on baord.

if the above doesn't work, use option (b): land and disembark from your Emirates flight and stay in the terminal (don't clear immigration). Your bags will go around the reclaim for a few minutes then get taken off and stored securely in the left luggage office. Meanwhile you go to the airside hotel, have your sleep, and then a few hours later clear immigration, get your bags, and go to check-in for jetstar. You must enter Singapore (immigration) through the same terminal you arrived in, as that's the left luggage office for your flight. For example - if you arrive terminal 1 but use the hotel in Terminal 3, you must go back to terminal 1 to enter singapore and collect your baggage.

Option (c) if you don't stay at the hotel, and the transfer desk can't tag your bags, you can stay in the arrivals area for a while, enjoy the facilities, then three hours before your jetstar flight you clear immigration, head to collect your bags from left luggage, then check-in straight away for jetstar.

Thanks Mel_Traveller for the info really appreciate it. Have you ever done option b and left the luggage ? Is this a safe option .?. i guess i would be a bit worried about not collecting it.

Perfectly safe! yes it is a bit strange and counter intuitive, but the airside hotels make a point of telling you NOT to clear immigration and collect your bags before you go to stay there.

When you go to pick up your bags they have them all lined up and secured with a security rope. The office is right there to keep an eye on them. You provide some sort of ID check.

And this is Singapore! nothing's going to happen :)

I have done this a few times where I have needed to check in again in the morning. Stayed in the lounge airside and then ~4:00am go and collect luggage and clear immigration and check-in for next flight.
