Just to check being Silver (30 shy of gold) Qantas Freq\F i can take a total of 3 pc's to and from USA?

ive always wanted to ask this, as a QC or PS, does the additional piece (for travel transpacific) have a 23kg or 32kg limit? Does the limit correspond to the relevant class being flown at the time?

While the QF website already provides comprehensive answers to these questions, the baggage rules for QP and QFF PS and upwards members are pretty much the same. The limits correspond to the class flown.

Examples:

Economy (domestic): Base baggage allowance is 23kg (unless flying aboard a Dash8 or to/from Lord Howe Island or Mt Hotham where weights are reduced). If you are a QP, PS or SG, you are permitted an additional allowance of 10kg. WP's receive an additional 15kg.

Economy (to/from USA): Base baggage allowance is 2 pieces, not exceeding 23kg each. Total dimensions of the 2 pieces must not exceed 270cm (106in) with no 1 piece exceeding 158cm (62in).

Regardless of your level, as a QP, PS, SG or WP, you are entitled to 1 additional piece which should not exceed the maximum per bag weight of 23kg, and not have a total dimension exceeding 158cm (62in).

Business or First (to/from USA): Base baggage allowance is 2 pieces, not exceeding 32kg each. Total dimensions of the 2 pieces must not exceed 270cm (106in) with no 1 piece exceeding 158cm (62in).

Regardless of your level, as a QP, PS, SG or WP, you are entitled to 1 additional piece which should not exceed the maximum per bag weight of 32kg, and not have a total dimension exceeding 158cm (62in).

A summary of the QFF status privileges, including additional baggage allowances can be found at:

I hope this information clears up any questions you may have. If in doubt, read the links posted here or previously in the thread for more detail, or consult the Qantas website and FAQ's as the answers provided there are clear and comprehensive.

Thank you for your reply thewinchester. Before asking the Q i had already looked carefuly on the QF website. They did not specify whether the weight of the "additional piece" corresponded to the class of travel. I've always thought the "extra piece" had a limit of 23kg regardless of class of travel, seeing that it's an "extra" piece.

But it's all good news! Thanks again.
