I've never heard of Bank Australia, but apparently they used to be MECU (Members and Education Credit Union).

Whilst browsing randomly I stumbled upon their Platinum Visa card, which is a 1 QFF per $1 Visa: https://bankaust.com.au/personal/ma...d&utm_campaign=credit-card&mzt=20151014021325

It would appear to be uncapped as well for points earn. Bonus points on Qantas spend (2 QFF per $1). Ambiguous T&Cs about government charges suggest it might be worth trying this one for ATO spend as well.

No points on BPay though.

Anyone tried this card?

I have seen this card for a while in the earning points card list on the Qantas points app and was looking at trying it out once they offer a sign on bonus, but that hasn't happened as yet. would be interesting though to find out if it does pay on ato, maybe you could ask the question in the ato thread.

Saw it advertised on Twitter and then went to the website. No sign up bonus though :(

I walk past a branch every day and am aware of the card. Been waiting for some time for a bonus offer but there hasn't been one. Might have to give it a go as my HSBC card will be chopped up early next year when the earn ratio drops.

With a tagline of 'responsible banking' maybe they'll never offer a sign up bonus?

$1/pt on a visa uncapped is a good deal (particularly if they support ATO) so it presumably won't last long :)

Anyone have experience with the application process and how much info they need?

For Self employed?

They charge $59 for an additional card holder on top of the $189 annual fee. They can go hang with that attitude, as far as I am concerned.

ANZ frequent flyer / rewards black is similar. $425/$375 annual fee + $65 per an additional.... Bit too spendy for me ongoing given other market offerings (NAB).

I used to have ANZ Black FF card and didn't pay a fee for an additional card holder. Is that new?

Hi All, terms and conditions on their website do not seem to exclude ATO payments from the points process on this card. Can anyone confirm the present state of play with this card. My Qudos card is about to get the snip.

Yep, you can read about their history here:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bank_Australia

Just take a look at the large number of Credit Unions that have joined them over the years.

You can use your card (perhaps not a good idea to use your credit card though) in any rediATM, NAB & Bank of Qld ATM.

There are not many 1:1 earns these days for Qantas FF points, so this actually looks pretty good.

This is increasingly looking like one of the best options for uncapepd 1pt/$ on Visa spend. Sure, the no sign-on bonus sucks and the fee for a supplementary card is less than ideal, but it beats paying $400 for a BOQ Specialist card. Any other options I should be looking at? Currently have the ANZ FF Black, which will be capped at $7,500.

Bank Australia will grill you till there is no skin left on your bones during the application process.

No Doubt they wiill cut the $1 for 1QFF when they do the RBA interchange review and probably dump ATO spend.

If you have weeks/months to fight them for a card go ahead.

As self employed It took 2 months and I gave up with all the material they asked for .

I can make more money with my time

I suffered the indignity of dealing with them in a credit card application.
Millions of dollars in freehold property, substantial income, multiple controlled entities, zero defaults, zero interest EVER paid on credit cards because always paid in full at end of month ..... rejected for a $10,000 credit card.
My current bank keeps offering me increased limits on my card for more than what I applied with Bank Australia.
Astounding!
I am utterly gobsmacked.

There's a few places like that. They can handle wage and salary earners, but anything self employed etc makes for a difficult process....

Exactly my experience
