Bankwest are reducing earn rates from 22nd May 2019:

Earning Qantas Points

This will vary depending on the type of card you have.

Bankwest Qantas Classic Mastercard
The earn rate will change from 0.5 to 0.3 Qantas Points per $1 spent on eligible purchases. The annual Qantas Points Cap of 50,000 will be removed and there won’t be a limit to the amount of points you can earn each year.

Bankwest Qantas Platinum Mastercard
The earn rate will change from the existing 0.5 to 0.75 Qantas Points per $1 spent on eligible purchases for the first 1,875 points, and 0.3 thereafter. The annual Qantas Points Cap of 200,000 will be removed and there won’t be a limit to the amount of points you can earn each year.

Bankwest Qantas World Mastercard®
The earn rate will change from 0.66 Qantas Points to 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on eligible purchases for the first 5,000 points, and 0.5 thereafter. The annual unlimited Qantas Points Cap won’t change.

Depending on your spend this could be an increase.

IIRC government payments have been called out for a while but not necessarily enforced.... ah well. Will have to see what happens re: council rates, post offices, etc.

For me in most months I keep around or under the $2,500 spend that will attract 1,875 points @0.75 on my Platinum card. But those two or three months a year when I am in the vicinity of $12-15K, it will cut out around 2K pts each time.

Changes probably make it worthwhile for me to take it out as a daily spender card (especially since I can use it for international purchases as well) and the lower minimum credit limit means I have more buffer for point offer cards elsewhere.

There's no lounge access on the Qantas card right? And it looks like they haven't done any points based acquisition offers in a long time.

Who cares about Bankwest. I went to apply for one of their cards to have with me overseas seeing they had no exchange fees. Apparently I am ineligible for their credit card. Yep, we are retired, no financial restrictions, own my home, but apparently I wasn't a suitable applicant because I 'don't have a regular pay slip", and 'they don't want to be responsible for putting me into any financial hardships". What a lot of rot. I call it discrimination. So, I am old, I am not working, I have done the right thing, but I can't get a Bankwest credit card! They can keep it. It's devalued now anyway!!

First Westpac and now Bankwest reducing points earn again to below 0.5 ppd, and the rest will follow.
the massive AMEX devaluation is not looking so bad now.

A significant increase in points earn for me. The World only sees non Amex spend, which is 'minimal'.

Thanks BW....

The Qantas Premier Everyday card costs $49 a year and domestically earns more than the Bankwest Qantas Classic and Platinum cards, which cost $100 and $160 respectively. (And it earns more than the Bankwest Qantas World Mastercard, when it earns 0.66 points per dollar)

The Bankwest Qantas Classic Card has overseas foreign exchange fees and no complimentary travel insurance - thus making it a total dud in comparison to the Qantas Premier Everyday card.
Regards,
Renato

Another disappointing change, especially since they already devalued from 1:1 to 0.66:1 on the basis of the RBA regulations restricting interchange.

I will only keep this because I pay $99 p.a. for it and can use the unlimited LoungeKey passes for dining credit at many different airports. Last had a very nice meal at Gatwick using this plus another family member with the World and some Priority Passes to end up eating GBP 100 of food for free.

How do you have Lounge Key? Is this on the More card or the Qantas card? I thought the More card can't be transferred to other FF programs?
