Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

I don't read my statements these days and the points keep coming on in. We all value our time differently but at 5points a transaction I just cant see the point of spending time trying to reconcile to maybe find a couple of missed transactions and then having to chase them up over 10 points, seriously!

The 28 pages was referring to the number of pages in this thread at that time! I'll edit it to remove any confusion.

Has anybody else had the problem of additional $1 transactions appearing on their BW transaction list?

As you can see below, for every $0.01 payment I make an additional $1 payment appears on the BW transaction list. But only the $0.01 payments appear on my Telstra statement.

This is a new account so I'm hoping it will sort itself out. It also has the effect of limiting my transactions to 25 per day.

Any update on what was happening here?
Has it been resolved or still happening?

I think you better check your script (iMacro, etc). I have been checking my account for the past few days and not a single $1 charge or authorisation has appeared.

Hi all,

I started making Telstra payments on 8 Dec after I got this card. I got a statement on the 11th and then again on the 17th. It shows no Qantas points being credited. Any ideas? Do I just need to wait another month? I thought that most people had statement periods ending at the end of the month.

Paul: switch to online telstra bills / bqnkwest satements.

Telstra: Each month could be over 100 pages!

BankWest: gets sent each time you reach 10 pages of transactions (could get them every 2 days!)...

Online telstra = easy through Aus post digital mailbox (digitalmailbox.com.au), as you can pay it on the due date (anything remaining), and it reminds you that bill is due.

Only look at Bankwest statements that are issued at the start of each month on a weekday(1st / 5th), as usually between the 5th & 8th (excluding weekends), points will be sent to QFF.

Don't worry about the points. They will show on the first statement you receive each callendar month. As for getting a lot of statements don't worry about that either. I receive an e-statement every single WA working day. Have had more than 300 since opening the account.

You will get multiple statements per month easily, they only transfer first statement of the next month.

Yes this is the dillema of course and it's what's stopped me from trying for more over the past year. Perhaps it might be better to try to convince family members to participate instead. I find it can be difficult to convince those who don't share the same mentality as us points nerds though. LOL

I'm hesitant to get my family to do it for me as I'd feel bad if BW ever banned us and then my family member could never have BW accounts again!

Unlikely, but a concern.

My partner is going to start doing it soon. I've got 345,000 points sitting there and we've used over 100,000 on business flights and hotels since I started doing it. Close to 500,000 points accrued.

---

Protip: Try and open a bankwest rewards account as well. Exact same deal. Not quite as good value but still alright. Every 12 months or so I'll cash out the points in that for a coles voucher or some gold class tickets.

And holy hell this thread has gotten long. I didn't envision it going on for this long when I first raised it here! I'd say I was easily one of the first to be doing it.

How have you managed to rack up so many just by yourself?

How have you managed to rack up so many just by yourself?

For some reason they let me have 2 accounts.

When I opened the second my first wasn't fully opened yet so when it asked if I had an existing account I felt truthful in saying no :P

I have a normal and platinum on both (not game to go for a third).

I started in June last year I think.

Normally I get around 30,000 points a month. A couple of months I forgot to add money and one month I got 45k points. Unsure what happened in that month.

A 35 day month (a 31 day month + the last weekend of the previous month and the first weekend of the next month?) and the 10K bonus, perhaps?

Just worked it out.

It was the make up points for when my QFF dropped off. I just thought I forgot to put money in the account for that month.

Can someone PM with some help on a macro for Optus, have tried to get it working but the dynamic fields has me a bit stumped...

Thanks

Anybody else having trouble with Virgin Mobile? I haven't been able to get any transactions through since 31/12.

Yep, I've been getting a generic error message.

Telstra works fine so I'm guessing it's a Virgin block. Possibly another one to scratch off :(

Any other ideas?

I've opened this bankwest account for a few months now. I can't obtain a telstra bill to pay, due to various reasons. Eg don't want the personal credit hit when i need to apply for some upcoming cc's, sister's credit check failing and telstra being outright useless.

Would anyone be willing to accept some donations to their bill?

I hope it's ok to ask here, please pm me the relevant details. Wanting to test out how autonomous this is, before wasting more time with telstra
