Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

I'm interested in what you've asked for when talking to them - ie. you have a standard, then upgrade to a plat. But after that, asking for another standard will come up on their system as having one already. Do you ask for another standard card as a "backup, just in case" - or something like that? Because if you say you don't have the original one (damaged, lost or whatever), then they will cancel the old one for security reasons...

I'm keen to know to.

Any chance you can PM me to cxthomps?

Current 'rules' with Optus are:
- 10 transactions every 3 hours, timer starts after the last payment
...

Actually, there is no timer.

Before Optus accepts a payment, it counts the number of payments made to your account during the previous 3 hours. A payment is only accepted if that number is 9 or less.

So if, for example, you pay the same amount 10 times, which takes 1.5 hours, you only need to wait ~1.51 hours after your 10th payment, before you make your 11th payment.

Regardless of how quickly or slowly you make your payments, you're 11th payment needs to be more than 3 hours after your first payment, your 12th payment needs to be more than 3 hours after your second payment, your 13th payment needs to be more than 3 hours after your third payment, etc.

Which means you are limited to a maximum of 80 payments a day per Optus account , regardless of whether you pay the same amount repeatedly or you differ the amount you pay.

Also to add another supplier to the mix that accepts low value high volume payments, I have electricity with Dodo and they accept one $0.01 payment every 5 minutes. Works with Imacro too. Got a call from them the other day to check it was me making the payments, once I confirmed it was me they had no problems. I assume this may work for all Dodo accounts but not 100% sure

Quick question, (l looked through the thread but l couldnt find the answer). When paying through Telstra (logged into my account), what is the line to press the "continue" button (after you type in the transaction amount). For some reason l cant get iMacro to record this move.

Do you mean "EVENT TYPE=CLICK SELECTOR="#continue-button" BUTTON=0"? And why do you need to enter the code yourself? Why not record it?

It seems I have got exactly same problem with iMacro. Would someone be so kind to post a FULL working iMacro Script for Telstra payments? I have spent hours trying to get mine working to no avail.

I'm sure everyone hates me now. But if it is any consolation:

I have a business card folder in a bottom draw somewhere that is used to store my excess cards. The Bankwest Card has now come out of the dark and has been promoted to equal number 4 spot in my wallet. iMacro was easy to install on the computer. Only using imacro in a semi automated mode, but it was great to discover last night that I didn't need to hit the "make another payment" button if I just hit play on the macro. :yay:

Not going to get 600000 points, but I'll be doing my utmost to get 250 a day. Thanks for your indulgence.

This is the document youre looking for

http://www.bankwest.com.au/library/pdf/PDS_20120824-143838.pdf

The relevant section is

QantasPoints are not accrued on:
transactions we decide are disputed due to being fraudulent or which involve an abuse of your Account or any Card

7. When you will not accrue Qantas Points and when we may cancel your Qantas Points ;
we reasonably decide that you are behaving fraudulently

The above scenario is usually avoided because banks have their Terms covering the situation. In Bankwest's case, this wasn't done initially but it appears that they have now added an abuse clause, which does give them more power to govern this.

Just to clarify, comparing Version 2.0 1 March 2014, to Version 4.0 12 January 2016, and the statements on abuse and fraud haven't been added or changed in Version 4.0. They are the same as Version 2.0. Most of the changes I can observe in Version 4.0 compared to version 2.0 relate to Deposit and spend requirements (section 4A).

Now that ive read all of the opinions everyone has on this topic, anyone like to PM some further information on the Telstra imacro script!

Cheers

Now can we get all the posts about how to make 1 cent transactions removed from this thread? that must be a completely separate topic, surely?

Sam - May I suggest that posts regarding 1c transactions continue in this thread.

BUT

Posts debating the ethics of it be in the new thread.

This thread was going along fine until it got derailed.

Don't listen to Medhead - I don't believe he even has a BW account

I agree this thread was fine until it got derailed by discussion on writing macros to pay telstra bills etc., etc., etc. Go back to page 3 or 4 of this thread you'll see my post there asking for that discussion to stop clogging the thread.

I'll bet you, $1 million dollars that I do have a BW account*.

* Minimum payment accepted is $500

If you two (medhead & dfcatch) can collect the post numbers you want kept here, moved to the ethics thread and moved to a "how to script" thread, then I'll take a look and see what can be done. However, I have a busy day myself and not enough time to understand which posts you each thinks constitute what. Feel free to PM me, but I think you'll too find that it takes too much out of your day.

Sam it's not worth your time. For the record I in no way question the step that has been taken. I'm not sure it was required, I see the discussion as integral to the discussion about making 1 cent payments because it is an overt warning to people who might not see the other thread. But accept the decision.

I'm not sure about the attacks on my view about this, considering that 1 cent payments have be clogging this thread for a long time, and I expressed my views of them being off topic way back when. However, rather than harp on at people I just let it go.

Having said all that there were about 3 to 5 posts moved to the other thread that mentioned, linked to and summarised the recent changes to the terms and conditions of this account. Those posts were clearly moved because they quoted other moved posts - fair enough. But I firmly believe that the terms and conditions of the account are well within the topic of general discussion about the account. Hopefully such posts won't clog up dfcatch too much on how to write a macro.

BTW dfcatch I considered accepting $5 payments, but you might actually do that for $1 per point.

Personally I think a fair bit of recent commentary was from people without BW accounts, particularly on the anti-side. So I was very glad to see the ethics question moved off.

Not so sure on the 1c question, before we got the ethics question raised it would appear to me the main interest in this thread was how to leverage the attractive points earning aspects of this account, and for some making multiple small payments is integral to this.

Medhead volunteered! ( I saw him raise his hand)

So... Can you pay Telstra Prepaid anything less than $20 recharge at a time?

Or is Telstra postpaid the only way of doing this?
