Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Just noticed energy australia have their 'my accounts', and their payment gateway, down for maintenance from 6pm until 1am tomorrow... I hope they aren't doing anything too drastic...

I will find the answer out tomorrow morning, when I wake up.

Is this points factory still working???
3 months ago, I followed the thread avidly, but decided not to bother on the grounds that it will probably go the way of the ATO payments. Soon.
A golden goose, who I shouldn't look in the mouth.

Have loads of Telstra, Optus, utility, etc etc bills.
There are four of us in the family.

Can I still get in on the action???

Stand-down - all is still well and able to push through the same 50x1c per card payments.

The cynic in me though, says maybe the software update didn't go as well and rolled back the changes to try again maybe next Saturday. Don't want to give away where I work but these big corporations have a torrid time with software releases. Anyway make hay...

I have followed this thread since its inception and the Telstra payment 'plan' which just does my head in!
Just wondering - have an ATO bill to pay $10k - any advice as to how I can maximise the point earn using this card?

Paying any transaction over $5-8 with this card is not really a cost effective thing to do.
You are in the wrong thread for ATO payments, although the options there are fast drying up.

Damn should have persisted with another provider. I ended up closing the account(s) since Virgin Mobile told me it was crashing their system.

I like this idea, but I cant make iMacros work on the ATO payment websites.

Using MyGov (not Govt EasyPay, which has a $10 min payment) you could make a large number of small payments (say 3333 payments of $3), each incurring a 1c processing fee. Total paid $9,999 plus $33.33 fees. QFF point earn is 33,330. Excellent return. With two cards making the maximum number of payments per day it would take you 2 months to pay it though.

As a non-Telstra user I would do this, if I could get iMacros to work with ATO. payments

It is my understanding the the Bankwest debit cards are limited to 50 transactions per day. Thus the maximum point earn per card per day is 250, with a minimum spend of 50c per day. So there is really little value in using it for higher value bills like ATO since the points are capped at 250 per day (ie 7500 per month). I guess if you have no Telstra account or avenue to use it then in theory ATO might be an option, but you will not earn any more than 7500 points per month.

That's assuming you only have one card, baggas...

Ok fair enough. I have two cards and thus can get 15,000 points per month.
But I achieve that spending $1 (2 lots of 50c) per day on my Telstra account.
I still don't see much point on using it for high value transactions like ATO. There are still better (albeit dwindling) options for that.

Don't forget their are more providers available then Telstra.

Do some dummy transactions with either an actual credit card, or other bank issued debit card to find any new providers to add to the current list.

Yes but isn't the 50 transaction cap a Bankwest imposed total? I was under the impression that if I've done my 50 1c Telstra payments per card, that I would not be able to go and do another 50 transactions with another biller. Is that correct?

100% correct.
