Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

This is the problem with upgrading/downgrading via online or phone - they automatically cancel the old card. You need to do it in person in a BW branch.

Exactly right the branch staff actually ordered me a platinum card as a secondary card. She even said it herself whereas the telephone/online staff said my other card would be cancelled. Ended that conversation real quickly. :D

We'll see if it actually happens and ill report back. I've obtained a platinum on my other halfs account via online messaging and the orange still works - this was a fair while ago though.

Just wanted to share my experience of upgrading to Platinum.

I asked to not have my current card cancelled because I still want to use it in the meantime. Guy said "ok, I've done this for you. But make sure you call us to cancel your old card after you receive Platinum, otherwise we get in trouble".... I'm very undecided as to what to do.

I just wanted to ask though. I recall reading someone saying they're on Platinum but only deposited $2k and that was enough to have monthly fees waived (even though it's supposed to be $4k?)?

I'm kind of glad that it's so long a thread and the nubbly bits are hidden away. Yesterday the Points Fairy delivered a sweet present, but if everyone had access to a handy step by step guide, I dare say the bounty would dry up.

Yea look I agree with you. I'm not necessarily condoning a FAQ, but more so if people are sick of repeating questions in a topic with 200+ pages, then an alternative is a FAQ.

What I'm saying is I personally am very happy with this as it is, but if people are seriously expecting others to read through 200+ pages and complain when they haven't read every single page, then an alternative (to keep the complainers happy) is an FAQ

Personally? Don't have a FAQ (for the reasons you've mentioned which I agree with).
Let people ask repetitive questions. If you don't want to answer, don't. But don't need to be like wtf read 200+ pages.

I think to get the most out of the guide you only need to read the last 50 pages as suggested by a forum member.

I think to get the most out of this thread, and life in general, is not to believe that you deserve anything. Everyone is entitled to nothing. Everyone deserves nothing. Just saying.

The 2k is for the monthly fee waiver.
The 4k is a *requirement* that staff have to look for before issuing the platinum card. There is no 4k system requirement for a monthly fee waiver, nor for keeping the account. That is what BW staff have indicated to me.

Point of reference for anyone looking for multiple cards on the one account. It seems that upgrading/downgrading in the branch is still viable. Had my wife upgrade to platinum again (after downgrading about 2 months ago) about a week ago. Card arrived in the mail today and has been activated. Her other two cards are still active so now working with three on her account.

Yes, it happened to me. It seems BW starts blocking cards due to "unusual activity" but I have managed to get my card back in operation.
It involved using my other card (which surprisingly was not blocked) for "normal" transactions doing everyday shopping and paying bills for app 3 weeks - no 1c transactions AT ALL!
Then, when after that my latest BW statement looked nice and tidy I stopped all activities with BW account for about a week. When I visited a branch after that reporting blocked card the teller saw only my latest statement on the screen with a lot of normal everyday spending, then nothing within last week (proving the card was blocked in that time). Fortunately they do not see the number of the card used for all transactions. She asked me for my ID and re-activated the card.

I tried doing this and it didn't work.

When I visited the branch yesterday, the woman who served me could see that I was using my other card, and searched for the last transaction on the card that has a hold on it. I was told she would have to call someone to have the hold removed. I was in a rush, so I'll just call them myself, but I'm not optimistic. Surprisingly, she didn't seem to be fussed about me having two cards or how I'd been using them up until early last month, perhaps because I could actually only use one card.

I'll be really irritated if I've just wasted the last 6 weeks, using only one card sparingly (i.e. loss of lots of points), when I could have just cancelled the card, or reported it lost, and had it replaced.

wow how many transactions did you do in a day? Now I'm a bit scared also. Think I may have abused this a bit too much as well.

As long as you're not exceeding 50 transactions per card, per day, the experience of other card users, suggests that you have no reason to worry.

Were the existing cards doing lots of 1¢ transactions before the upgrade request?

Went through all 270 pages last night. Phew!!
More than 2 years late to the party, but better late than never .
Opened up my Qantas Transaction account last night. Looking into getting a Telstra account before my card arrives.

Yes both existing cards were doing 50x 1c every day. Now going strong with 50x 1c for all three of her cards plus all four of mine. I really think the key is going into a branch and requesting in person. If you find a branch that doesn't work then try another one.

Wow 7 cards. You make us look like amateurs. Just out of curiosity NoName how long have you been operating like this for?

I'm really confused right now. I have a daily sweep (transfer) setup between account for the $2k minimum.

Right now an account sweep has been declined as not enough $.

My confused part is:

- logged onto account via phone "full website" chosen.

- I no longer can seem to find a way of editing scheduled transfers / manage payments for the dauly sweeps!

Have they changed things?

This looks ok on a PC.
Make a payment is working fine.
