Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

once a scheduled payment is declined you have to do the transfer setup again. Happened to me a few days ago.

Grrrr..

Going through all our accounts, as it's setup to daily sweep between all our accounts.

Ie:

Mum - dad
Dad - granna
Granna - pet dog
Pet dog - mum

All on the same day, everyday. So $ doesn't actually leave the account, as it's all out and back in on the same day.

Legal: names have been changed for privacy reasons ;)

Yeah I had the same setup as you for me and my girlfriend. I think I'm going to space it out for at least two days in between just because I found that if the daily sweep falls on a weekend, it requires two days to transfer across.

Coles525, why are you doing this? Unless I'm missing something about doing "daily sweeps". You only need to deposit $2000k per month, so you can put it in one day and take it out again the next day. I just schedule $2k into each of our BW accounts on one day from my primary account with another bank, then schedule the $2k to be transferred back from each account the following day.

I used to do that, but would need to redraw the house each time.

For the past many months, just had $500 or so in each peraons account, then a daily $ transferred.

Set and forget until I need to add more funds, which lasted between 2-3 months between 're-fueling'.

did everyone's transaction processed this morning? I found I did 250 transaction but only 200 shows as pending. Not sure what the deal is there.

yup, today's went through. maybe a delay?

That's very strange because yesterday's transaction exhibit the same thing as well. Not sure whether Bankwest has cancelled one of my card or not. I suspect one of my card got blocked. How would you know if it's blocked it you do the transaction through Telstra?

Are you checking your balance before and after the transactions?

The transaction for 23/06 only showed 200 transaction whereas the one on 22/06 shows 250. I won't even bother just because I already get decent points for it but we will see.

Just thought I'd give a heads up, the "missus" got a letter from Bankwest today informing her account would be closed effective July 1 due to the activity on her account. Basically states that at the time of opening you were provided with the terms and conditions of the account and advised of Bankwest's rights in relation to closing your account. Don't know if this is a one off or they are starting to crack down.

Dang I'm a bit scared now. How long have you had the account opened for? Also means you don't get the points sweep. Think I might just stop for now until I know that my points will sweep over.

Since Jan this year. Havent actually done anything on it in the last month since Energy Aus changed (don't have Telstra account) so not sure if the sudden lack of activity is what triggered them to it. Didn't have a second card on the account either because I mistakenly got the platinum first before I knew what the best option was so can't be that.

I tried doing this and it didn't work.

When I visited the branch yesterday, the woman who served me could see that I was using my other card, and searched for the last transaction on the card that has a hold on it. I was told she would have to call someone to have the hold removed. I was in a rush, so I'll just call them myself, but I'm not optimistic. Surprisingly, she didn't seem to be fussed about me having two cards or how I'd been using them up until early last month, perhaps because I could actually only use one card.

I'll be really irritated if I've just wasted the last 6 weeks, using only one card sparingly (i.e. loss of lots of points), when I could have just cancelled the card, or reported it lost, and had it replaced.

Update:

I called BW and asked for the hold to be removed from my card. After being transferred to the correct person/department, they removed it with the only question being asked "Did I want the hold removed?" No questions about another card or how I was using them, though my in last 197 transactions there were no 1¢ payments, so perhaps that helped. It was 5:30 PM on a Friday night, so that might have made thing easier too.

To anyone who has a hold put on their card in the future, it might be easier to just put it in a draw and get another card from a branch. When the card with the hold on it expires, I wonder if the new card will have a hold on it when posted?

Yeah the funny thing is when I ran it through Telstra account it goes through with a receipt and all but just does not show on the statement.

Uh oh. I'm calling it. This is the beginning of the end.
