Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

What did you buy?
How many 2 for 1 meals appear on the receipt?
Does it matter what you buy it's just split into 25 cent payment via tapping the card?
How many taps?

There isn't a lot the banks can do to confiscate points already accrued with this loophole. With the NAB issue, FOS determined the customer was not acting fraudulently and thus the bank had an obligation to pay the points accrued.

They can however remove you as a customer.

I only bought 11 items. Total was a shade under $50.

Of course, what you're seeing is the reverse side of the docket with all the Shop-a-Docket specials on it.

Would you believe for a docket that long, there are only 2 x 2-for-1 meal deals on it, and both are from The Coffee Club. I do, however, have 3 x $2 off Japanese curry at Sushi D'Lite. Plus enough vouchers for cheap carpet cleaning, package tours, The Outback Spectacular, discounts on spa treatment and so on.

I don't think it matters what you buy or spend; you scan all what you want to buy, scan your EDR card (if you have one), then you come to the payment. From there, it's just a matter of settling your debt.

From the payment selection, tap "Split Bill". ("Please select your payment method.")
Then, use the onscreen keypad to tap in how much you want to pay (e.g. tap "decimal / point", "two", "five"). I believe it would be advisable to charge at least $0.05 per transaction. Yes, I could have done this and finagled a few more points on my Amex with the balance remaining. ("Enter the amount you wish to pay.")
When the EFTPOS machine is ready, Paypass your card. ("Follow the pinpad prompts to finalise your payment.")

Now if you have enough time to while away, have enough patience to put up with the lady robot and have enough guts to do this rather intricate, attention-attracting and elaborate scheme... then go for your life. After you have finished settling your bill, your reward would be a very long receipt. I might not be surprised if you happen to run the machine out of thermal paper... your choice if you wish to pursue with the store to get your receipt reprinted.

At the end of the day it just shows that points based on the number of transactions can be a pretty dumb way to set up a reward card and has backfired on financial institutions multiple times...

Standing at the self serve for a hour is a waste of time. Most telcos allow online CC payments with no minimum value.....

Lucky for you and me it only took me about five minutes before I realised that this exercise is for the birds...

Funnily enough the 5k is not a cap - I literally accrued exactly 5k points.

If I remember to run my macro every day this month (I have two of these accounts) I'll get 15,500 points for the month. I'll keep on repeating it till bankwest cares.

At 140k points for a RTW ticket economy that's 10 months and I can do some travel. Not entirely sure I'll make 10 months but I accrue around 5k points a month from my normal credit card usage anyway.

Even if it doesn't pay off and they somehow take your points, I admire the sheer cojones involved in this macro venture. I haven't even used the card yet, not sure where it is tbh...

What sort of bill/account are you paying with this method?

Has anyone had the 10k bonus points credited yet?

I had some points posted today for my monthly balance but not the 10,000 bonus points yet.

I opened the account on 14 April and did deposit over $2000 in that month but I have a feeling they won't count April since it was part of a month and they said they don't charge the monthly account fee for when you deposit less than $2000 in a month for the part month when you first open the account so I think I'll have to wait until after the end of July, although it's possible that they still could show up later this month.

Will need to re read all 28 pages tonight!

Especially about macro & telstra payments (ie: by phone, online...)

Feel free to msg me. :)

Only 15 points were transferred to my account for last month(opened it last month as well). I probably made about 10 or so transactions, will these be transferred later?

Also I think the finer details on this thread should be kept to a minimum, in order to get better mileage so to speak ;)
