Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Handing over specific transaction details to a third party rewards provider without any communication whatsoever with the account holder is a privacy breach, regardless of what little clauses they have regarding disclosure.

People didn't fight it because bankwest were within their rights to close accounts with no grounds. Just as people were entitled to use the account to their full benefit. Nothing was "milked", it was simply used fully within the terms even up to an unpublished daily limit.

As I said, you're entitled to your view. Merry Xmas.

But is that a breach of privacy? As I already said, you would have waived that when linking your QFF to bank west. There would be a clause stating information being passed on. So no breach.

There are fair use policies, and if you are using macros to generate transactions you are milking or even rorting the system. Do you pay all your bills in 1c amounts with an automated script on your computer?

Am I the only one who finds the circumstances in which this report has come to light interesting? Please feel free to correct me if i am wrong but, within 24 hours of a heated verbal stoush between a member on AFF and Ozbargain beginning, and after a member here encourages AFFers to 'vote down' a user on another forum, a new member joins and reports what constitutes a significant and unprecedented change in behaviour by Qantas. The result of which strikes fear into the heart of a great many here. Hmm.

No, you're not the only one. :)
And the notification from QF coming by email? Sounds like the kind of thing that would be sent the old fashioned way. Which is why I asked the poster to post a screen shot of the email.

Absolutely what I was thinking! Coincidence? I think not

Actually ridiculous that this is being discussed in 2 threads because one troublemaker who created an account yesterday double posts.

Ok I'll rephrase, what do you think a "good lawyer" would be able to do?

Mount an arguement about incorporation of terms. You may want to have a look at the bankwest mastercard thread where i explained this in some detail. It was also the arguement i successfully used against bankwest.

I notice that OP posted in the 2 threads at about 2:30am today (24/12), and has not posted anything else on either thread since.
I think if the same cancellation event had happened to me, then I would probably be a little more actively involved in the follow-up conversation (even on the day before the Christian celebration of the anniversary of the alleged birth of blah blah blah...).
Just sayin'...

Wow. You need a lawyer.

You don't know a lot about the legal system, do you? Hiring a lawyer to pursue this matter will end up costing you more than the value of your points in a very short space of time. If this event has actually occurred, Windexwins (and anyone else who it happens to) is in for a world of pain attempting to get their QFF points back.

I understand your qualms about someone who would write "arguement". You basically have to fight a spell checker to do that.

i will say with a high level of confidence that there will not be a big flood of people having their points withdrawn from QFF.

Interesting. I just read through the comments section attached to the recent OzBgn post - they run to 2 pages so far.
In the comments there are 3 that mention the closure of QFF accounts. ALL 3 are posted by the same user "jimbobaus"...

Co-incidence or not??

You might want to do some research:

"There is also an emerging view that arguement is a legitimate alternative in British English, similar to the case of judgement and judgment, where both spellings are acceptable"

Only as much as a registered legal practitioner who is an accredited expert in contract law, written extensively in peer reviewed publications on the topic of incorporation of terms in electronic contracts and has never lost a case.

You may not have thought of pro bono or class actions.

Hope that answers your question, even if it may have been rhetorical.

So it's now the 29th and the OP who wrote of QFF closure has not responded to either thread and no one else has had a similar issue? I'm tending to believe this is an April fools wind-up that has come a little early.

That was obvious within 24 hrs imo.
