Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Is the 'abuse if account' provision new? Otherwise it seems fair and reasonable that Bankwest are closing accounts with this type of activity. If that provision was pre-existing I'm not sure how some feel they did 'no wrong' in running these scripts?

That being said... what drives someone to contact the bank about this? :(

Agree, it's the same person or at least using the same avatar.

I wonder if the mods have checked IP addresses to see if we have a "phantom" or two amongst us. What I can't understand, is that regardless of whether the point haul was "politically correct" or not, if no one can identify a particular breach of Ts&Cs, how can anyone be chastised for running with it? Isn't this kind of "points maximisation" exactly what has made AFF the valuable resource that it is?

isn't that exactly the point? a potential breach of the Ts&Cs has been identified... 'abuse of account'

Why even bother continuing to discuss this? It's been shut down

I agree. It's done and dusted. Was just another "short lived" points earner that realistically lasted a lot longer than anyone expected. This is what this forum is all about.

I do find it funny that a certain individual took it upon themselves to call a bank and "dob people in". If a bank the size of BW needs a consumer to do their research for them, then they have bigger internal problems that we thought!

Should it be the same person who used to post here... then it makes a lot more sense.

A shareholder? Jealousy?

I don't follow this thread much but I believe many accounts were closed in August/September and people are still getting mistake QFF points credited every month as Bankwest has no idea what is going on?

I was mainly referring to a QFF breach, but in any case I fail to see how paying a legitimate invoice can be "an abuse", in fact it was BW's own Ts&Cs which encouraged people to pay smaller amounts. It's just that some took it to the extreme. However, since I don't have a BW account, nor was involved in this scheme, I have no desire to argue for or against the legalities (not to mention I have no qualification to do so either).

On the first two questions, probably just an exaggerated sense of their own importance and a belief in their capability as a bush lawyer (clearly not a real one by their comments).

On the last, Bankwest certainly do know what's going on, the continual crediting of points is therefore best regarded as just gross incompetence in my view.

If it's the same person who used to post here (and I apologize if I'm way off, I don't read OZB) they had a bizarre obsession with Qantas <redacted>. I'd say they felt someone was hurting their beloved Qantas and took it upon themselves to be the one to "rescue" them.

Whilst I have only met the member you are referring to a couple of times, no I don't believe he has serious problems.
