Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

One fact and one funny from the T&Cs for the 5000 bonus points.

Fact: Must complete a minimum of 10 eligible transactions in each of the first 3 calendar months from the date of Account opening using a Bankwest Debit Mastercard.

I interpret this as don't sign up in the last days of the month as you won't have much time to get the 10x transactions done (as it takes a few days for the card to arrive).

Funny: Most purchases are eligible purchases except some things such as balance transfers, bank fees, gambling, government chargers and anything else listed in Section 1 of Bankwest Qantas Rewards Program terms and conditions

Do they mean USB-C, or perhaps a wall-box for charging a car? :p

Ubank offering 2.35% p.a. from 1 August
That brings the cost of a J return to Europe (with taxes of $800 each way) up to $6,000 rtn for a top rate taxpayer. At that cost I think I will fly revenue and earn points and SC
I am definitely done with this bank 'scam'

You can start using the debit master card straight away via the Bankwest app.

Couldn't agree more, this is really poor value now. Was borderline OK during Covid when rates were low, but now $$$ is much better than points, particularly at this pathetic rate. My money is out of Bankwest and with Virgin Money.

If you have more than 50K in your Bankwest Qantas transaction account do you earn points up to 50K or no points at all?

I'm using this account at the moment to earn extra points to just make the Points Club...

This now no longer charges foreign exchange fees & no Bankwest ATM fees for withdrawls made overseas, fees charged by the ATM operator would still apply.

They have removed the Extended Warranty & Purchase Security Insurance.

I've started a new thread about ATM fees and international transaction fees being removed from this card:

After getting this card and thinking about what I had to go through to get the points, I bailed and just closed it.
I think for me the issue was earning any sort of useful point balance involved flying too close to the sun, so I banned myself before BW banned me. Its an innovative product, but a severely limited one. I'd still love to know how they make their money from these accounts.

I just dealt with the strange looks from the self-checkout attendant at woolies as I split a $3 transaction into ten.

I was wondering why Bankwest were not crediting my qantas points. I checked my bankwest profile and my QFF number was missing (even though I entered the number when I applied).I've since entered in my QFF number I hope I still get my points credited....

I think I had the same issue, I did call to fix it, they reassured me, and indeed the missing points arrived at the next statement.

Reminds me I should move my bankwest fund to a saving account now. Bankwest qantas not so good value anymore imho.

Thanks for that.
I checked mine and it was also missing despite providing the number with my application.

Seems mine was also missing. Not adding, of course, error message:

Membership details could not be updated

This is the hardest 5000 points I’ve worked for in a while!

There were some connectivity issues with the QFF servers today (in gnernal not just with BW) so maybe try later today or tomorrow.

Third points sweep today and no sign of the 5000 points, so looks like they'll be crediting to my next points club year...
