Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Not sure whether applies to customers on non-transaction accounts only or not. E.g. has a term deposit or credit card a/c, etc?

In short i was told, as long as its your first time applying for the Qantas Transaction account, you should be eligible.

Edit: Reading some of the mix responses, I will phone Bankwest just to make sure.

Received an offer from the Qantas newsletter today to apply for the Qantas transaction account and receive 10,000 bonus points. I enquired and double checked with Bankwest and Existing customers are eligible provided you meet the new rules.

I closed my account after getting the previous bonus, wonder if I could do this again?

I've just started a new payment month with Telstra and had the macro running when I happened to spot a new message on one of the payments. It indicated something about being charged a credit card fee on the next invoice and it wasn't the standard "A credit card payment fee of 1% will be added to your next bill". It was a much longer message and wondered if it had something to do with all of the 1 cent payments avoiding the fee.

Unfortunatley the macro hurried on to the next transaction before I had a chance to read the message in full. Can anyone enlighten me on what the message said as it hasn't reappeared?

Always been a msg that cc payments will incur a 1% fee.

Even if paying by bpay or phone.

That's right, but this wasn't the "normal" message that I put in previous post. It was a message that was several lines long and in white text on a black background to highlight the message (using standard screen colours), a bit like the "Confirm" button.

Has anyone tried downgrading from the platinum card back to the standard card in an attempt to get a 3rd card happening to enable 150 transactions per day? Thinking of trying this in a few weeks time once I've had the platinum for 2 months total.

Nope, from my time at CBA they'd just stop and reissue your normal one instead of ordering a new one.

CBA give a new expiry if you request a damaged reissue 3 months after the original issue. I am unsure if BW does the same, but if they do that'd get you another 50 per day. I'll test it out eventually.

1) "A credit card payment fee of 1% will be added to your next bill ?"

2) "(?)" =

"Credit Card Payment Processing Fees apply and will be added to your next bill.
Visa, MasterCard and American Express processing fee is 1% of the payment amount, plus applicable GST. Diners Club processing
fee is 2% of the payment amount, plus applcable GST. Exemptions to this fee may be available for eligible pensioner concession card
holders. For more information on Payment Fees click hear."

Will look closely tomorrow!

Soooooo.....

IF we were to get a fee added per transaction, it qould be:

$0.01c per payment @ 1% = $0.0001c fee for each payment...

Total per day (fees, excluding gst!) = $0.005c in fees (1 card used), or $0.010c in fees if 2 cards used (ie: 100 transactions!)

either 1/2 a cent, or 1c per day to get 1000's of points! ;)

Telstra had removed that payment fee some time ago.
I have not paid a CC fee for over a year - then again my bill is 'automatic' debited on a designated date, so may be differenct from ad-hoc CC payments.

I just went into a branch and switched back to the standard card. Will update with the results once I receive it.

I got a ton of points this month, they must have shorted me last month.

23,645 on one account and 22,135 on the other.

EDIT: I have a theory as to the above, will need to investigate it over this month though. If my theory is correct it should be pretty cool - but I won't be making this public to everyone if it works. I was only shorted 200 pts last month, not 7,000.

I'm curious ;). I'm waiting for my points to credit for this month, expect it to happen on Monday. My last statement showed the 10,000 points so I'm expecting to receive them plus the daily transaction points, in total probably 15,000+ points.

12,290 + 12,840 for us. I hope to be flying the life within 2 years! (As in approved by work for 2016 leave once we apply again by sept 2015!).

Opened my account back in June, have been depositing $2k every month, Terms & Conditions say 10k bonus points should post within 2 months of you satisfying the 3 months condition. Am I right in thinking that the bonus points should have posted with the transaction points that posted today?

Quite possibly, I opened my account in midway through May, received by 10k bonus points today :D (so you will probably recieve your points in November)

I followed up in the online chat feature and they are checking with the accounts team.

If they tell me next month, I'll be fine with it.
