Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Will be counting them up tonight ...

Just revisited the T&Cs ...

I can't see anything about '50 transactions per day'.

All there is, is a clause about BW being able to claim that if a transaction is deemed as 'fraud', they can cancel the QFF points allocated ( and a few more similiar things ) ... but nothing to do with a restriction on the number of transactions made, using their card.

There's no statement in the PDS or T&Cs limiting to 50 transactions per day, this is just what it is.... I'm sure no bank would expect anyone to make anymore than 50 transactions a day.

Bankwest is within their rights to cancel the card on you without any notice due to the reasons below. You may be able to do 100-150 transactions once or twice and got away with it, no one noticing etc, but soon enough staff in store and Bankwest is going to catch on and put a stop to it. I'm more than happy to continue doing my 50 Optus transactions a day.

1.9 Cancellation of access

unsatisfactory account operation; or
• non-compliance with these Conditions of Use

So, if they decide to somehow, 'close the loop-hole', do you think I will possibly lose 'everything' ( card + all points allocated thus far ) ??

What happened with the AMEX promo some years back now ??

I heard, that some people were legally entitled to their 'millions' of points - regardless of AMEX deeming that $0.01 transactions at supermarkets were 'outside the scope' of the promotion.

( I think it was a very generous offer - something like 100 bonus points per transaction ?? )

Not that it will likely apply to many, but I've found that the maximum number of overseas ATM withdrawals is limited to 8-10 per day (some days it lets me do 8, others 10)

Why use this card instead of Citibank Plus card? for the 5 points per withdrawal, as I can withdraw $1.20 AUD at a time, netting me just over 4QFF points per dollar on cash purchases!

You earn QFF for ATM withdrawals?

Not withstanding whether cash withdrawal accrues points, are QFF points really worth $0.25 to you? Really??!!

Does everyone else get weekly estatements?
I havent been credited a single point yet for about 2 weeks of $0.01 telstra purchases.
Is something wrong or should I just wait in case it takes a month or so to kick in?
I kind of don't want to call and alert them to my many $0.01 transactions.

The general consensus is that they issue weekly (or in some cases almost daily) statements to prevent statements getting to unwieldy lengths. The usual "statement period" doesn't actually change though, they're just bits of paper flicked out more often.

SO, the statements won't show anything earned until the end of the actual statement period, which is monthly. When the month rolls around, you'll see a number of "adjusted points" and a pretty quick sweep to your QFF account. There's nothing to stress about at this point, except to keep earning!

Sorry if I missed this, but are you referring to e-statements or paper statements that incur a fee?

I got my last e-statement (through the Self Service option) in September.

You can change the frequency. Mine were originally three-monthly.

I counted my transactions, according to my e-Statement, and I have actually been allocated QFF points for more than 50 transactions per 24 hour day.

Not by much though ...

For my 5th. November statement, I had three 'series' of transactions ( either Coles or Woolies ), where I did 53 or 54 tranactions. I got all of those points.

So, I'll be waiting for my first week of December statement, to see if my 150 - 200 transactions a day actually turn in the points expected !!

Further to my experience thus far ...

Don't do much more than 60 - 70 transactions on any Woolies / Cloes Self-service machine. The 'crash' sequence simply takes too long to recover, and the staff at my 'locals' are just about 'over me' ...

i've found, that by doing just 60 or so, it doesn't crash the machine, and it returns to a full 'operating' screen as soon as you finish paying.

I'm returning to the same stores twice a day.

Sorry but I think your behaviour is very strange. I don't think Bankwest will allow this to continue for long, you will most likely find your account suspended and probably banned from Coles too. Is it worth it? How do you have this much time on your hands...?

Does anyone know whether making payments at Coles in the morning (8am-ish for example) will have any effect on being able to make Telstra payments online later in the day or the following day? If I make 10 payments at Coles in the morning can I still make 50 online at Telstra in the afternoon?

I'm not buying QFF points at $0.25, I'm earning 4QFF points per dollar on cash purchases I otherwise would have earnt 0 points. Even taking into account exchange rate variation compared to my Citibank Plus, its worth it. Where I am (Russia) there are many places where cash is the only option.

Yes, unless Coles Paywave terminals query your card at the time of payment. Once Coles' payments settles or pre-auths later in the week, you won't be able to make the 50 Telstra payments for that day.
