Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Rick, stop being condescending.

I used to work for CBA, I spent my first year in their cards team and then moved to fraud. BankWest uses the same systems for processing card transactions as CBA (just older versions). BW DO cap you at 50 per day. It's not a case of "my card is diferent". You can exploit this cap by taking advantage of offline transactions. The reason it stops at an arbitrary figure and not 50 is because your card had an ATC value which indicates how many paypass transactions have occured since the last communication with the bank. Once you hit this it forces the company to communicate with the bank and the bank may then decline the transaction. Coles may also decline the transaction.

Regardless, you are exploiting a system. Stop trying to plead you didn't know of the 50 limit. You DID. We all told you. After we told you I made the mistake of telling you about offline transactions (another person may have) and that is why you are doing more. You KNOW that this is the only why.

I give up. I am trying to tell you to accept the closure of your account and be happy with the points you've received because I am very confident your activity can and will be considered fraud if you keep pushing which will result in you losing ALL of your points. Complain to whoever you want. You are WRONG.

FYI - Continuing to do it after they have advised you of the account closure and numberous phone calls is going to support their position. Your card will let you do offline paypass even once it has been stopped and the account has been closed which WILL 100% be considered fraud.

BW is 100% aware of this thread, so all of your comments in here they know of. They know who you are and what you "really" know compared to what you are telling them.

This hurts you, not helps you. If there were no points to be gained you would not be doing it.

Mmmmm ....

If there were NO QFF points to be gained, and this was simply a matter of paying multiple one cent transactions .... I wonder would Bankwest still be wanting to close my account ??

I'd be interested to understand how a corporation could link the identity of a person on an internet forum to a specific customer record with 100% absolute certainty...? Any data matching possibilities would be heuristics at best.

I used to do it all the time.

He has made it very easy. He posted the exact number of points he received twice, the month he received the bonus points, the exact day he made a call to a manager, that he lodged a complaint with them and that he lodged a complaint with fair trading or w/e.

Considering only two people have been sent those letters it's not going to be a hard task for them.

EDIT: He also uses the same username on a ton of sites. I've already got his full name, age, location and email address from a 2 minute search.

Hi Aussie_Flyer,

Some time ago, I unfortunately attracted the attention of my preferred hotel chain.

Yeah, silly me, I posted some statements online ( this Forum ), that I thought may be tracked.

I decided to apply to Admin. to change my username, as to avoid any further scrutiny.

Yeah, I may keep putting my foot in it ...

but no, almost three times the age you mentioned.

Chalk up another one :)

Gee wiz, this is getting exciting ...

Send me a PM, and tell me 'who I am' !!!

( and include my real age - exactly, if you 'know' who I am ... )

... and no, I don't this username ANYWHERE else. Very interesting Cephalopod, I started to believe you sound like you know what you're talking about ... but then you made this statement ...

For those who are interested ...

NSW Fair trading contacted me, and said it is a case for the Financial Services Ombudsman.

Gordon?

Has posted too much information regarding where they work and how many transactions they have been doing per day. It is not that difficult to put 2 and 2 together when the raw data is in front of you.

There was a time when I thought Shanye2233 pushed things hard. But Gord, err, Rick93 pushes things that little bit extra as well. And for those that worry about Rick93s credit rating, have a read of his past postings.....

Long time Members of this Forum would likely know my first name.

But I'm waiting for a PM to advise of my full name, and DOB, as able to be identified from "a two minute search".

Geez, how far off topic is this ??

Do any of you REALLY think that anything I've done, has made any difference to your own ( if any ) BW accounts ??

How do any of you draw the line ?? Was 50 transactions a day ok ?? Or, was it the 'value' of the transactions ??

I think BW objected to one cent transactions, in principle. I would wonder if ten one cent transactions a day would have attracted attention ??

I also thought, that others would have been interested in my experience of dealing with BW in this regard.

Very disappointed in a 'theme' that presents here ...

Certainly not the 'spirit' of the Forum I would prefer ...

I agree. The whole purpose of these forums is to maximise frequent flyer schemes (isn't there a quote on the home page stating something like "beat them at their own game"?).

Bankwest have offered a promotion. The same style of promotion that has been offered by Amex and NAB (at least) in the past and suffered through similar maximization by customers. If bankwest did so little research into possibilities like those that have presented then, in my opinion, they deserve to have their promotion taken advantage of to its fullest extent.

We're not talking about mum and dad businesses, we're talking about a major bank (and from memory, one who destroyed many many people's lives during the GFC). They should have known better.

Bankwest Transaction account 10K QFF promo [Back on offer till Oct 31]

There are always moral and ethical overlays on any T&C's. Some push the boundaries whilst others don't. We are all different. Any action against those that have pushed the boundaries will probably not effect those of us that have collected points by normal transacting on the accounts.

"normal" ???

Are people who 'chase' reward / loyalty points "normal" ??

Take a close look at collectors in 'other fields' ... ( stamps, coins, cards, Barbie dolls etc. )

Do they all do "normal" things, when it comes to their chosen field ???

... and, I think I've previously mentioned ...

The 'mattress run' ( hotels ) & the 'milage run' ( airline flights ) ...

Are these "normal" things to do ???

Rick the thing about you is you don't know when to stop. You kept pushing the envelope then they caught you out. Instead of saying fair enough, look I took advantage, let's call it quits, if you give me the points up to now, I will close the account, (which I reckon they would have been quite happy to agree to), you went and made more of a nuisance of yourself.

Same as when you were told at Coles to stop clogging their checkouts.

To to be honest, your behaviour sounds like a personality disorder to me.

Lets get back on topic guys instead of jumping on Rick's back.

Has anyone been having a little trouble with the telstra transactions? I am finding my macro stuffing up because I am getting the 'second tranacation in 48 hours' screen intermittently not coming up and screwing up the flow of the macro.

Telstra has been playing up so I have gone back to manual transaction - only 10 or 15 at a time so staying within the spirit of the promotion. Just waiting for a family member to get the 10k bonus and then I might re-assess.

No issues with Telstra for me anymore. The connectivity error message isn't coming up and more and I'm able to scroll from window to window through 50 transactions in a max of 5 min per card (faster if I get some of the payment confirmation messages and can refresh).
