Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

... I might just close my account and be done with it.

I've actually been pretty happy with the account, but if they're trying to get rid of customers, that's their problem.

T&C's in the Qantas email I received in October, with the 10K offer, state:

Introductory bonus Qantas Points offer: Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account must be held for at least 3 months. Qantas Points will be credited within the 2 month period after satisfaction of these conditions. Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account must be open at time of Qantas Point's payment and linked to a valid Qantas Frequent Flyer account to receive bonus Qantas Points. The Qantas Points offer is subject to change. Offer ends 31 Oct 2014.

That means your account must be open for at least 5 full calendar months or you won't get the 10K points (the first part (calendar) month the account is open doesn't count for account fees, so it probably doesn't count for the promotion either).

Maybe that's why they're closing the accounts of the 1¢ers.

I opened my account in June, which is plenty of time to cover that. And even when I phoned them in October, they told me I was eligible and just need to wait until the points are accrued.

Maybe it all got a bit too tight in between then and now so they're looking for ways to avoid having to award the points.

Wonder if a call to QFF Call Centre would help... especially on these comments (bolded). I know they usually just fob off the paying, but seeing that they have had a hand in trying to do this deal with Bankwest, they may be able to help somehow...?

I'll try that. Thanks, kevrosmith! ;)

Ok, but the account still needs to be open when/if the points are paid or no points.

That's what I was suggesting. They think the 1¢ers have already got too many points from them, so they don't want to pay 10K bonus as well, so they close the account and the bonus can't be paid according to the T&C's for the promotion.

Sure thing.

The Qantas consultant said that he couldn't see an account linked up and that the points are probably getting accumulated with Bankwest until I give them my QFF number. I told him that I received some points (from the amount kept in the account and the transactions made) so they must have my number. He checked my Activity Statement and indeed saw some points from Bankwest. The way he explained it is that he should be able to see all the linked accounts on the computer (e.g. Woolies, Qantas Cash etc), but there's nothing there from Bankwest.

He suggested I call Bankwest and simply ask them to link up my account and give me the points.

Polardabar,

Check your most recent statement, at the top it should have your name and QFF number.

Mine randomly dropped off mine a few months ago. Bankwest advised me it was an issue and fixed it for me. Possible it effected you as well and your QFF has infact dropped off your account.

Sure thing.

As one of 'the unclean', my name & QFF number was removed from last eStatement.

I added it back TWICE, and twice BW removed it again ...

However, I did receive 'some' points, credited to my QFF account - even with no name & number on the statement.

Are they selling bags now at the checkouts?

hahaha .... scan product - put product in bag area - wait for scale to match data base of the weight of said scan product - start scanning again - repeat - rinse - repeat

Oh that's what you mean. I misread your statement.

Ever since WOW turned the bag scales on .... total PITA!

Agreed, and it seems like they waited until peak Christmas time to do this. It's slow as a wet week and hugely infuriating. They have one normal manned checkout, one express checkout, and then a bunch of self-checkouts being used by technophobic geriatrics trying to scan their EFTPOS cards to pay for their home brand cat food one can at a time. Lawd help me...

It's worse here in the ACT where the supermarkets aren't allowed to provide free bags.

Mind you at least in Australia I haven't seen the self service mandatory, in the UK last year quite a few if the Sainburys and Tescos made you do the self scan.

Another Canberran! Yay!! :-) Or is that Canberra-ite? Or Canberrian? Or...
