Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

That's right...To avoid the monthly fee on the account you will need to deposit at least $2000 per month (e.g. your salary).
There is, however, no deposit requirement to get and maintain a Platinum Debit Mastercard. The bank text about needing a $4k deposit requirement is just smoke and mirrors. ...

Thanks. Good to know.

I opened one of these today and the woman in the branch helping me even suggested paying for individual items at Coles one by one to ensure I got 5 points per transaction.

I asked was there a minimum amount to be an eligible transaction and she said $0.01. So she was happy to encourage me to make lots of small transactions to maximise my QFF earn.

Now I just need to work out how to automate paying my phone bill in 1 cent chunks...

Looking forward to this nice easy little earner :)

Thanks to all who have shared their wisdom and experiences so far in this thread!

Yes, the 10K signon expired but that's not where most of us have made the most points!

I've just done a quick scan back through the last few pages of this thread, and it looks like the clubhouse leader for the number of points harvested off any one BW a/c in any one month is about 7,800. Does anybody claim a higher number (that didn't attract unwanted attention...)?

Scored 7590 points last month... no unwanted attention here.

I'm quite sure that there are many people earning much more than 7k per month from transactions. In fact I'm certain there are. ;)

Oh...
I was assuming the oft-stated 50/day transaction cap, combined with deejo77's reference to 'not needing the interest', to arrive at the conclusion of the deposit balance range.
Maybe my assumptions were wrong?

From memory I think the 50/day is for automated transactions, not in-person ones. Not sure, my time is to valuable, could never be bothered by the latter. Also don't discount multiple accounts.

Agreed; I'm only interested in on-line transactions too.

Also don't discount multiple accounts.

I'm sure that there will be multiples out there, but in this case my original question was asking about the max monthly earn for a single a/c, and deejo77 appeared to be referring to a single account ("...an account ..."). But as I said, maybe my assumptions were wrong...;-)

The 50 transactions per day is for any transaction. Once you do 50 anywhere the card will decline. However, it is 50 per CARD. Many of us have multiple cards active for the same account. Hence being able to do >50 transactions per day for a single account.

Do we just request an additional card? What reason did you guys give for obtaining a second or third card under the same account?

OK, I get the distinction b/w CARD & A/C now.
But my original question still stands: "it looks like the clubhouse leader for the number of points harvested off any one BW a/c in any one month is about 7,800. Does anybody claim a higher number (that didn't attract unwanted attention...)?"
I'm mostly interested in points from online transactions; not physical transactions, nor deposit balance points earn.

That's not quite right from my experience. You can do 50 online but still post others manually at retail outlets.

Thats interesting. Perhaps different cards have different restrictions? Every time I've tried to make a transaction at a retail shop of any description after doing 50 online it has been denied. Unless you're talking offline approved transactions which are a different story altogether (and discussed earlier in the thread). Not that it really matters I suppose because making multiple small payments in person would give new definition to wasting time IMO.

My experience was with Coles so, yes, offline approved. I'm not sure how you can tell whether they are offline or not, though, other than if they are processed successfully.
