Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

Just so I've got it all right in my head:

  • BW cards have a limit of 50 transactions per day
  • Supplementary cardholders are still subjected to the same 50 transaction limit as the primary cardholder, so additional cards on the same account will not provide any benefit
  • Everyone in this thread who is doing this with multiple cards actually has multiple separate accounts, rather than just supplementary/additional cards on the same account
  • Completely separate accounts are required for additional point gathering
  • $2k/$4k can be transferred between whole separate accounts for the minimum deposit coverage
  • Benefit to up/downgrading to/from platinum is... ?

Upgrading OR downgrading keeps you with one actual savings account, but more then 1 "credit card number" to use x50 per credit card.

Wait, so if I upgrade (or downgrade), I keep both active cards in my own name, but with separate credit card numbers? I assume you can only do this once... ?

Correct, both cards active (if branch staff member doesn't cancel original card) with seperate card numbers.

Unsure how many time it could be tried... Only done once for us (each!)

Far out! I can't believe here I was earning 7000-9000 points on this account and thinking I was doing good! That is just from balance and using as my daily account. I hadn't even considered paying bills like that. You lot have blown my mind with this 1c / 5 point thing. Will have to look into it but the potential looks awesome.

I have gone back 10 pages at this stage but have a question... Is this only for bill payments like phone / electricity? What about credit card payments to other institutions? Are they classified the same?

I'm already on the platinum version, what benefit would upgrading/downgrading provide?

When you upgrade/downgrade the old card will remain activated unless cancelled by the staff member. My experience is that if you request it online or on the phone they will cancel but in the branch they won't.

Oops forgot to mention my macro is phone bill 1, my card, wife card, my card, wife card for 50 cycles.
Then phone bill 2, son card, daughter card, son card, daughter card for 50 cycles. ...

Are you saying you do 100 transactions per card each day? Or does each account have 2 cards?

If only one card per account why alternate?

Oops maybe I worded that poorly.

We as a family have 4 x cards, 4 x accounts each doing 50 transactions a day.

From memory when I first set-up the macro Optus had some sort of time delay, that wouldn't let you do another transaction from the same card within "X" amount of time. The easiest solution I found was to alternate between accounts.

I haven't touched the macro since I set it up (you know if it's not broken), but I should look at tweaking it.

If anyone knows all of the Optus peculiarities that would be good.

In my experience, you can't do two payments of the same amount, to the same Optus account, within 10 minutes, whether from the same card or not.

Is your experience different?

Also wondering what macro solution you're using?

Yes my experience with Optus is the same.

I use iMacro for firefox.

I got my first statement today and it shows a few hundred Telstra transactions but then Qantas points earned on balances 0, Qantas points earned on transactions 0, Qantas points adjusted 0, Qantas points credited to Frequent Flyer account 0.

Is this normal for the first month?

The statement is auto generated once it gets to a number of pages (9? 10?) and you don't need to do anything about it. The points arrive once a month, which is probably the important part.

Only the first statement generated each month, on or after the first of the month, will show points (as if it was actually a monthly statement).

Craiglm, I've read this thread from the first page and I don't think anyone else has got imacro working with Optus, due to the field names changing each time.

Months ago I was advised to use LastPass, to at least fill in the data.

Are you using the Optus "Pay my Bill" page?

Are you using iMacro to fill in the account and credit card data and press the "Pay Bill" button, then enter the email address and press the "Send Email" button, and finally press the "Yes" button to make another payment?

If yes to the above, would you please post or PM me your macro (obviously with the account and credit card data removed), as it's time consuming doing everything except entering the account and credit card data, when for some reason, at the moment I don't have to wait between repeat 1¢ payments.

I would really appreciate this, and I believe other people would too.

Does anyone know when this 10,000 point promotion started? I applied for an account on Friday but didnt notice on the website then. Hopefully I still qualify for the 10k. Bankwest Qantas Transaction Account – Everyday Bank Account
