Bankwest Transaction account [General Discussion]

The problem with a random number generator, is it can generate the same number more than once. Yes there's a low probability that would happen, but being random, there's no reason it cannot happen, as it doesn't know, remember or care what the last number generated was.

While this is technically correct, one can reduce the likelihood by (increasing the generated range by) using something like:
SET !VAR1 EVAL("var randomNumber=Math.floor(Math.random()*99+1); 1+randomNumber/100;") <-- this generates a random "cent" and returns a number between $1 and $2.

And can recover from an error (if indeed the same number is generated twice) by using:
SET !ERRORIGNORE YES

Of course, like any programming exercise, there are at least x+1 different ways x number of programmers can achieve the same effect! :-)

I very impressed with your knowledge about using imacro.

Unfortunately, neither your solution, nor mine, regarding the amount to pay, resolves the problem of macros not working, because Optus are being tricky b*st*rds.

Agreed, the problem is the named field changes names. Possibly could be avoided if iMacro recognised a tab command.

You're kind, but I haven't done any serious programming in over ten years... I've only played with iMacro for a total sum of probably an hour or so.

My Perl is very rusty, but in the good old days I used to write web scripting using Perl; one can definitely parse a web page to detect any changes in field names and act accordingly... If I had an Optus account I would probably spend some time on this, but having no incentive, no spare time, and a very rusty recollection of Perl is not a promising combination I'm afraid :-|

A warning to all.

If you set up a transfer on a weekend, that is to occur on the following Monday, the funds will be withdrawn from you account immediately, rather than on Monday.

Apparently this is because the computer thinks that the day after Friday, is Monday, so if you set up a transfer up on a Saturday, the computer thinks it's Monday, so it withdraws the funds immediately.

At this stage, I don't know if you lose interest & QFF points because the money left your account 1, 2 or 3 days early.

I do Optus manually but find that using a password manager program (Lastpass) to fill in all the fields saves a lot of time and typing.

I've been manually doing the 1c Telstra transactions and now I'm getting this message 'Unfortunately, your payment hasn't been approved by your financial institution, please check your credit card details and try again or contact your bank for more information."

Did BW block my account?

Just means youve gone over the daily limit of 50+ transactions usually.

I sometimes just try an individual payment.

For those who 'stand in line' ....

Coles has dropped the speed of their self-service machines - most definately. Coles is now on par with Woolies, as far as the speed of their machines go.

I still prefer to use Coles machines ...

On my BW online account transaction listing, I'm now running three days behind ! That is, I constantly have well over 100 transactions 'pending' authorisation every day. I think this 'adjustment' by BW has somehow caused the loss of ability to do a very high number of transactions in the one day - especially over the weekend ( as previously mentioned - BW don't recognise Sat / Sun ).

I could see what happens, if I don't do any transactions for say three days ( time to clear my 'pending' transactions ), and see if I can go back to doing 500 a day !!

I actually did some transactions yesterday (3 :o) to pay some bills from the funds built up in my account, whoppee a whole 15 points. I'm not sure I could be patient enough to either do the iMacro option, or standing in line at Coles/WOW and doing numerous transactions...

I have found the opposite situation when using an account with another bank to "pull" the money out of BW. If I set up a transfer from BW to occur on a Saturday using the other bank's online system then the amount is available in both the receiving account and also in BW until Monday. Like you, I haven't checked the QF points but I'm assuming that I get interest in the receiving account and points through BW for the same amount.

that's a neat trick. What bank do you use that will credit on a Saturday? I have a RaboDirect account linked to my Bankwest, it wouldn't let me do transaction on Saturday.
.

BW Plat card arrived yesterday, it worked in the evening after 50 Telstra transactions in the morning.
Today the 50+50 also worked.
Telstra bill also arrived, didn't get charged the cc fee - which is different to some of the reports here?
Anyway, not complaining. Thanks to those who have helped.

After my 'backlog' of transactions was cleared, I noted that Coles machines started working faster ( at what I first found them to be like ).

My primary card ( one in my name ) is now able to do the 'almost unlimted' transactions again, but my partner's card still has multiple 'uncleared' transactions, and will only process 25 per day !

Bit hard to keep up with this ...

But it seems like BW will either process transactions overnight, or they can clear some during the day ...

My card rejected transactions after 50 yesterday morning. I tried it out again in the evening, and was able to get another 75 accepted ( A Coles machine in the morning came out with "Card not accepted" ).

I started paying my vodafone account (minimum of $1 per transaction). I only started this last month. I paid $50 yesterday, but today I am getting "Blocked card. This card has been blocked...". Has anyone seen this before?

If one was to get a 'replacement' card, same card number, different expiry and different 3 digit code on the back would that entitle more transactions per day used in conjunction with the old card? Or because they are the same number you'll be restricted to 50 transactions between the two?

Obviously Rick93 is not an overly busy man!!!

Well, today I clicked off 362 transactions between Coles & Woolies !!

I call in to a local Coles to where I work Night Shifts, and then a few others during the day.

I buy a few items, but pay for them one at a time - on a different machine. That avoids the potential of 'crashing' a machine ...

Hmmm, I've been out of the country for a month but before I left I was paying my Vodafone bill in 5 cent increments i think and it working fine, have they recently upped it to $1 minimum transactions have they???

Not sure why you are bothering to do so many transactions when you only get points for the first 50 each day?
